Why Side Roads and City Bicycling Efforts Come Together

By Rob Sutter

I think that city bicycling efforts can be as versatile as riders want them to be. What I mean by this is that there are a number of predetermined roads which can be traveled along and they are the ones which are most common. However, is it possible that people can utilize other paths which are not used nearly as often? The side paths which are seen as the roads less traveled could be more rewarding, if you know exactly how to work with them.

Even though I talk about video games quite frequently, I think that they can be correlated to the aforementioned cycling efforts. Certain titles seem to encourage you to travel outward and see what lies in wait outside of the main path. The "Elder Scrolls" series does this expertly as you don't have to immediately pay attention to the main quest. In fact, it's possible that you can ignore it entirely if all you want to do is see what the landscape possesses and what you can gain from it.

If all of us constantly traveled down the same road each and every day, wouldn't matters ultimately become boring? Yes, you understand how the roads work in this regard but what about other roads with their own sets of rules to follow? Maybe you see the challenge in doing such a thing and you want to take it up. It could also be a simple case of familiarity that you want to break up a bit so that you can add just a hint of spice in order to make it more intriguing.

If you're someone who is heavily into city bicycling efforts, maybe you had the urge to go elsewhere. The paths that you utilize beforehand were fine, without question, but maybe there were others that had more to offer. Perhaps the environments were better to look at or maybe you don't find much to mention. It's something that can occur but taking the chance is an action worth taking up and I'm sure authorities such as Linus Bike can agree with this kind of sentiment as well.

If video games have taught me anything at all, it's that there are rewards to be had when going off in a different direction, no matter how far it veers from the main path. If city bicycling efforts have shown me even the minutest detail, it's that going about such actions in real life provide different experiences. You may have a better understanding of the world around you if this is done. However, you must possess the drive before you decide to pursue this course of action.
