The Mapes Hotel: Lost Landmark Of Northern Nevada History

By Ross Everett

The Mapes Hotel in Reno, Nevada met its demise on Superbowl Sunday of 2000 when 75 pounds of explosives packed inside the structure's support columns brought it to the ground. The controlled demolition came despite years of effort by a number of groups within the community to preserve the building with lawsuits, redevelopment proposals, and grass roots lobbying efforts. The National Trust for Historic Preservation even took up the cause, challenging the destruction in a lawsuit that eventually reached the Nevada Supreme Court.

While the logic and necessity of demolishing the Mapes is very questionable, one thing that is certain is that the hotel was an important part of Northern Nevada history. The opening of the Mapes in'47 ushered in a new era in casino gambling, and changed the economy and way of life in Nevada forever. The Mapes was actually the first property in the country to combine a hotel, casino and live entertainment under the same roof. It also became the hotel of choice for celebrities staying in Northern Nevada. Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe stayed at The Mapes during the filming of 'The Misfits'. Joseph McCarthy, America's famed anti-Communist crusader, admitted to a reporter over cocktails in the Mapes Lounge that he really didn't have a list of Communists in the US despite his frequent and vitriolic insistence to the contrary.

In the 50s and 60s it became, along with Lake Tahoes Cal-Neva Lodge the place to be seen in Northern Nevada. The top floor, window-walled Sky Room showcased performances by the legends: Sinatra, Louis Prima, Mae West, Milton Berle, Sammy Davis, Jr., and the Marx Brothers among others. Subsequent years were not kind to downtown Reno but the Mapes prospered during the 60's and 70's. The hotel finally closed in'82, due more to financial difficulties experienced by the Mapes family caused by one of their other Northern Nevada gaming properties than anything else.

Reno has yet to experience the sort of growth that has been seen in Southern Nevada, and for that reason the destruction of the Mapes is more open to debate than the hotel demolitions to the south. Even the demolition of The Sands--perhaps the most historically significant casino in the state--is hard to argue against given the inability of such a small property to compete in the current Las Vegas marketplace and in light of the value of the mid-strip real estate.

This is not the case in Reno, where land and buildings for development in virtually every casino area are abundant. The official reason that the Mapes had to come down was that the city needed the land--which sits along the banks of the Truckee River--to expand its riverside district of art galleries, restaurants and shops. The revitalization of downtown Reno is definitely needed and a legitimate goal, but at the same time it is hard to think that the Mapes was a barrier to this. Indeed, a number of proposals for redevelopment including office space, artists lofts and upscale senior housing would have probably served to enhance the livability of the downtown area. For whatever reason, the City Redevelopment Authority wouldn't approve any of the proposals and the fate of the Mapes was sealed.

The behavior of the City Redevelopment Authority throughout the process has come into question. Overlooking the Truckee River, the hotel was perfectly placed between the downtown casino area and the riverfront district. In'96, the city purchased the htoel and began accepting proposals for redevelopment. Despite receiving a number of proposals that made sense both in terms of their financial workability and positive impact on the downtown area, the City Redevelopment Authority nixed all of them and insisted that the hotel be razed.

After the demolition of The Mapes Hotel, the lot remained vacant for almost a year until a temporary ice skating rink was constructed in the winter of 2001. The site now houses a permanent ice skating rink which, while not a bad use for the land, brings into question the insistence by the City Redevelopment Agency that none of the proposals to preserve the building were viable. Clearly, they had no specific plan or even general idea of what to do with the land but for some reason wanted to see the hotel come down. This has led to all manner of speculation, ranging from financial self interest to a rumor that the structure was 'haunted' and needed to be destroyed to forestall future paranormal activity in Washoe County. Whatever the reason, the city of Reno lost a valuable landmark of a more civilized era.

Manage Your Money On Superbowl Sunday

By Mallory Megan

Despite the fact that we are in the middle of a recession, and a lot of you are in debt, there is no reason that you can't throw a really great Super Bowl Party.

Try to focus on not overdoing it. Make just one extravagant dish and play the rest off of that. A vat of chili, if properly seasoned is able to serve twelve people for twenty dollars. Chicken wings are quite cheap and easy to make. Coils of kielbasa, priced around five bucks are a cheap and delicious snack.

Because the Super Bowl is a special occasion, opt for hot food. Ordering large trays of Chinese takeout are less expensive and time consuming than cooking your own food.

Children at Superbowl parties can be hard to keep happy. Vegetables, juice, chips, and a carvel football shaped ice cream cake priced at $22.99 will keep them at bay.

Drinks? The best choice for shoppers on a budget is beer and wine. A keg will save you about 40% according to experts. The wine doesn't have to be fancy - a five liter boxed wine will be more than acceptable. If you encounter the troublesome guest who insists on liquor, get discount vodka, a half gallon for just fourteen dollars. Its cheap, and blends with about anything.

Even in tough times, it is a requirement to make the most of your game-viewing experience. A medium to large flatscreen is completely necessary. But if you don't own one, rent one. Websites list 42 inch TVs for as low as $26.99 a week.

And about those annoying people who don't watch football. A pool for small gifts like a store certificate or CD might inspire people who aren't the least bit interested in football at all if a prize is awarded at the end of every quarter. Try to have experienced fans explain what is going on. Then, sit back, and enjoy your game.

Sports Handicapping: What If The NFL Changes Overtime Rules?

By Rich Allen

There has been a great deal of talk in the media about the possibility of the NFL making changes to their OT rules. On one side you find those who feel there is no problem in watching reams duke it out for an hour, only to have what should act as the most exciting part of the game since it's determined on one possession of the ball in which that team has to move it thirty-forty years to set up the ultimate winning field goal.

On the other hand there are guys like commissioner Roger Goodell who feel that if you're not able to win a game within the first hour, then you should have no problem with how it gets decided after that hour and of course, no handicapping issues. This is a worthless discussion, but one that bears talking about a little bit.

What is disturbing is what a change in the rules could mean for sports wagering and sports handicapping. The NFL clearly owes some of it's huge popularity to the simple fact that it is the most gambled on sports game in the USA. If they chose an over time plan like the college version, what would that to - either positive or negative - to the lines that are put on national football league games?

Picture this, should you place a wager on a game that has a posted final of 42. Following regulation the score is tangled up at 14. Thus your bet for the game not making it under the posted final score looks fairly great, correct? Well let's say the overtime structure was much more like it is in college exactly where both teams obtain the ball regardless of anything.

Let's assume both teams score a touch down in OT. So now you could have had as much as forty-two points. Then another over time with two field goals, after which yet another with one FG to win the game. Now you went from having a solid chance with the game ending on the total of thirty-one with the typical OT determining field goal, to having a match where the total went as high as fifty-one. All if this in what is considered top time, or when you have no more time left to run off the game clock.

The NFL doesn't have to go to the college system, but things have to change. The OT rules as they are now, are busted. Let's think about it, you have the coin flip become more conductive to the outcome of the game than anything else. That's crazy, yet stats show that the coin toss winner wins an incredible 60% of games. Usually the team who loses the coin flip never even gets the ball. The rule should be that if both sides score the same amount in a tossup, then you use sudden death OT.

Regarding sports handicapping I might then allow it to be (like they should have carried out already for NCAA Football) a soccer rule for gambling reasons. In tournaments and games in soccer, where there is really a chance of overtime or penalty kicks, the betting line doesn't take into consideration these additional frames. That's why they have a Draw line. When the game ends in a tie following 90 minutes, the teams might continue to play to figure out a victor however for gambling reasons the overall game is finished.

My thoughts are that the national football league should have the same rules as soccer, but especially when or if the over time rules are modified. If you allow the game to continue on for betting reasons after the hour is up there will be no bloated scores that mock betting lines. Thus the rules should be changed to accentuate the players; not the coin flip, I feel that the betting rules also have to change.

A Complete Review Of The Lord Of The Rings The Two Towers

By Shelia Beard

People who have attempted to read The Lord Of The Rings The Two Towers often find that it is not an easy book to get through. And yet, the movie version, released in 2002 and direct by Peter Jackson is an exciting and memorable movie that has received a lot of critical acclaim. Here are a few reasons why the movie is often more appealing than the book.

You will find that the book tends to be a study in contrasts. There are some portions that are filled with action, suspense and intrigue. There are also sections which focus more on the environment that the characters are traveling through and which tend to be a bit slower paced.

It is for this reason that the movie version, released in 2002 and directed by Peter Jackson, was excellent. Although there have been some criticisms about some of the plot choices that were made in the movie, on the whole it is an excellent film. Like the first movie, Jackson uses a combination of sets, special effects and make-up in order to recreate key locations such as King Theoden's hall in Rohan.

The two towers mentioned in the title refer to the tower of Saruman, a corrupt wizard who has fallen under Sauron's sway, and the tower of Sauron itself in Mordor. Saruman is busy creating warriors that will be used to crush the remaining forces who are still putting up a fight against Sauron. Saruman is creating fearsome creatures known as Uruk-hai that are stronger, tougher and more brutal than anything that has come before.

Finally, the story works well as a movie because it is easier to follow the travels of the different parts of the Fellowship. In the book, the companions split up at the end of the first movie. Boromir betrays the Fellowship by attempting to take the ring from Frodo by force. You understand why he does so after you meet the people of Gondor, including Boromir's brother Faramir and the corrupt and deranged Steward who has cracked under the pressure of living next to Mordor.

You also begin to learn more about some of the motivations which affect the characters. Boromir, who is killed in the first movie, is from Gondor, a land on the border of Mordor and under constant siege from the forces of darkness. The movie delves into the motivations of the people of Gondor. We are introduced to Faramir, younger brother of Boromir who is desperate to prove himself to his father who serves as Steward of that country.

Although there were some criticisms surrounding the way Peter Jackson treated the storyline, for the most part this movie has been praised. There are so many memorable moments (such as the unforgettable Battle of Helm's Deep) that you are set up to go into the third part of the story with a much better understanding of Middle Earth as a whole.

Both the movie and the book have an important role to play in the overall trilogy. Peter Jackson's version keeps the viewer riveted and the visual scenes of travelling keep the interest level up more than the book tends to do.

Where And How To Find Top Movie Download Sites

By Ramon Boyd

If you are a real movie buff and have a good computer you probably like playing games and watching a lot of movies on it. The Internet is an excellent source for finding all sorts of movies, music and games that you can download from a variety of different sites. Here are a few notes on what you might want to look for when looking for a good movie download sites.

One way you can get an idea of how good a movie download site is, is by reading the reviews from those who review sites on a regular basis and also by those who have actually used the site. A four or five star rating is a pretty good clue that you might have found a good site.

One of the favorite features that most people like is if the site offers the ability to download any movie or music and then burn them so you can view or listen to them at a later date. A nice extra would be if they offered a program that made DVD and CD labels as well.

It is important that they offer a nice P2P software that will connect you to millions of other members from all over. This then makes for a far wider variety of movies, music and games to choose from. You also want to make sure that they offer their members tutorials that can help you every step of the way if you are having problems with anything on the site. Good quality movies is a must, so make sure that you read the reviews closely. Also a nicely designed site is always a plus.

Make sure the site is easy to use with all the software that is compatible with your computer. Check to see when they release new movies, do they come out later than other sites or do they come out sooner than some of their competition. If you like games find out if they allow you to download games, music and other software programs. It is also important that their sign up system does not take forever, signing up should not be a burden. It should be quick and easy so you can get on with using the site.

The site called Express Movie Downloads is a great site withstanding the extremely bright red design of their site. If you can get past the glaring red you will find that they have a pretty good site. The have a lot of free software that comes with membership including the ability to burn and rip music and movies. They also say they have about 12 billion different music files, movies and games.

Another thing you want to see in a movie downloads site is if they offer all the latest movies and whether most of them are of DVD quality sound and picture. Look for sites that give their members a free download accelerator so the download speeds are even faster. The site should make their interfaces easy to use and there should be something special to keep their members coming back for more.

It is always nice if a site is sleek, easy to use and has a great customer service. After all, if you are going to be paying for a service you definitely want to be able to talk to someone if you have an issue. You also want to make sure that if you are looking for extreme speed that you check to see if they offer some sort of accelerator.

Get To Know More About Lawn Tractors

By Eddie Simms

In this piece you will find data about lawn tractors. Knowing the expenses, various uses, and the way to use this particular tool safely will help you to make the well informed call about which lawn tractor is best for you and your uses.

One way to think about lawn tractors is as simply being tiny tractors, and for the most part that is correct. However because of their smaller size they have a range of uses that make them ideal for the home, hobby farm or weekend garden enthusiast.

If you want a tractor for different sorts of farmwork for rather less than a couple of acres, then a farm tractor is almost certainly the top choice for your situation.

Mostly, a lawn tractor of to up to 7-10 HP will also have a ZTR ( nil turning radius ) feature to help when working in a smaller field. This feature allows the tractor to get into otherwise inaccessible areas, and be much easier to get around in small areas or where there are lots of obstacles to avoid.

Some of the roles that might be finished by lawn tractors include hole digging, lawn rolling, ploughing, cutting, and lots of other roles. The power take off shaft makes these jobs simply easy and a lot more fun than they otherwise would be.

A lawn tractor is a powerful machine, so use it consciously and follow the manual's instructions fastidiously. Each gardener driving a lawn tractor should be worried about safety, at least to the point of not taking their new 'toy' for granted.

Lawn tractors are designed with a low center of balance and that's why there's very little possibility of the grass tractors tipping over. Even so it's essential to use the following safety cares, and watch your speed, particularly when you are on an incline. A little rock may lead to your lawn tractor to have problems and probably harm you, and damage the tractor at the same time.

When getting off from the grass tractor, ensure that it is turned off first and that all attachments are in touch with the ground, if at all practicable. These may seem to be just simple tips, but it is these little things that can make sure you enjoy all parts of having a lawn tractor at your disposal so much more.

A Brief Synopsis Of Se7en Starring Morgan Freeman

By Zachary Boyer

By reading into an article like this one, you more than likely are hoping to learn a little more about perhaps one of the most influential films to be released in 1995, Se7en. It is pronounced seven, and through the later paragraphs of this piece you will learn a little more about the movie with a plot synopsis and some other important details that you should know to fully appreciate the film.

You are going to be fairly warned in advance, though. This article will likely contain some spoilers to the plot of this film. In order to adequately do the film any justice in discussing it, such spoilers are going to be necessary. So if you have not seen this film, the movie and its plot will be discussed in full in the later paragraphs of this article.

When you start watching this movie, you are going to be introduced to the two main characters of the piece, Detectives William Somerset and David Mills. They have recently been paired together to help Mills adjust to city detective work. Somerset is set to retire soon, so they are a great match and it is not long before they are working together on a gruesome crime scene unlike anything they have ever seen.

One of these murders involves a severely obese man who appears to have been force fed to death. Fed so much in fact, that his stomach has burst open entirely which kills him. The other, involves a greedy lawyer. The interesting additions to these scenes would be the words "GLUTTONY" and "GREED" at the respective crime locations of the obese man and the corrupt lawyer.

Through a little bit of consideration, the two detectives determine that these crimes are relative to the seven deadly sins that are derived from Biblical texts. So, they are certain that they are dealing with murder, they are also certain that unless they stop it, they will be seeing at least five more. And they are less than mild on the eyes, so be fair warned.

To make things even harder to wrap your head around, the suspect, John Doe, not only turns himself in but also agrees to take the detectives to the location of the last two victims that had not been discovered yet. Armed with the promise of a written confession upon their return, the detectives head out with Doe to the location of where the last two victims are to be found, but they might not be who you would have guessed.

The power players that really made this movie as brilliant as it became were Brad Pitt (Detective Mills) and Kevin Spacey (John Doe). The supporting roles from Morgan Freeman (Detective Somerset) and Gwenyth Paltrow (Tracy Mills) were instrumental in making the other roles as impressive as they really were. This film was not only among the most gruesome and chilling pieces you are likely to see, but it really has earned a spot among the classic crime films of all time.

So, if you wanted to learn more about Se7en, than this should have given you a good introduction to the film. While there is certainly more to appreciate about this movie, you are going to have to learn about that for yourself. So put the kids to bed, and appreciate what so many others have deemed one of the best films of 1995, and likely the nineties altogether.

Online Gambling - Vegas Versus Online

By Nebekenazar Jones

Las Vegas has nothing on online gambling. I don't need to spend thousands of dollars on flights, a hotel room and a rental car when I can just pop open a cold one, open up the Compaq Presario and get to stomping fools in a the Hold 'Em Room. One interesting thing about online gambling that is much different than Vegas of course is your ability, or lack there of, to size up your competition. Luckily, Stonewashed Casino's real time video conference feed gambling system allows you to do just that.

This ability to read someone's actual body language is what sets the Stonewashed Casinos online gambling portal a cut above the rest. When I used to play at more second rate portal's, I honestly was not making nearly as much money. When I can actually look into someone's eyes, I can get a lot better idea as to whether or not they are trying to BS me. And reading the BS signals are what Hold 'Em is all about!

Before Stonewashed Casinos, I was looking anywhere and everywhere for a dependable online gambling portal where I could endeavor into the depths of my vices late into the wee hours of the morning. I was just another miserable married guy with nothing to look forward to every night except diapers full of feces, screaming babies, and a nagging wife. Then I found Stonewashed Casinos, and I honestly feel like I am back in college again.

The video feed makes gambling on Stonewashed Casinos a lot like being back in the Frat House, talking crap with the boys, throwing money around like its nobodies business. There is a fun sense of camaraderie that you get even though you are all trying to take each others money. I guess it is not dissimilar to the same feeling you have when you are trying to kill your buddies in online gaming shoot 'em ups. Anyways, when I am logged in to the video feed, I almost forget I threw away my sense of self to placate societal norms (ie, got married).

So, maybe by now you are seeing through the real me. I'd obviously prefer to be in Vegas, bagging scandalous women, throwing my money down the drain and engaging in Felonious activity. But alas I am married, so I can't. Thank the heavens for online gambling and thank Stonewashed Casinos for their amazing online video feed gambling portal.

See The Goonies

By Bobby Colon

If you remember the eighties, then you certainly remember The Goonies. This movie was a classic. On the other hand, if you still haven't seen it for some crazy reason... Think Pirates of the Caribbean meets Stand By Me meets Indiana Jones meets The Sopranos meets... Well, it's a whole lot of different movies all wrapped into one, really. It's primarily an adventure flick, but it makes a lot of stops along the way, and stands as one of the all time classic kids movie downloads.

The movie focuses on Mikey Walsh and his band of "Goonies", kids from the docks area of Astoria, Oregon. The kids are sort of the outcasts, the rejects, the ne'er do wells of the town, who have a long on-going rivalry with the rich kids. This rivalry comes to a head when the local rich guys plan to foreclose on the neighborhood and turn it into a golf course.

The Goonies take it upon themselves to save the Boon Docks. They start by getting into the attic, where Mike's dad, a museum curator, has a bunch of old pirate stuff stashed. They find a treasure map leading them to an old restaurant on the coast. The restaurant is run by the Fratellis, a low rent crime family led by Ma Fratelli, a serious ball buster who takes a sort of Bates Motel approach to mothering her children, played by Robert Davi and Joe Pantoliano. They have to figure out how to get under the restaurant to get the treasure without alerting the Fratellis and...

It sounds like a lot of information to take in all at once: Pirates, the mafia, buried treasure, foreclosures... But if you just stay along for the ride, you don't have to worry about keeping track of all that. Just enjoy it for what it is, a fast paced, action filled adventure romp through caves and crypts, culminating in a showdown on an underground pirate ship.

Really, the movie's all about fun. It's a really silly, fun, exciting movie, partly because it doesn't go all the way into fantasy territory. Unlike Monster Squad, everything that happens in The Goonies technically COULD happen in real life... It's not very likely, but within the context of the film, it feels about as real as anything in Stand by Me. This really helps it inspire you with a sense of adventure in your every day life.

When the film came out, it was considered to be a little TOO fast paced, with booby traps and swordfights breaking out at the drop of a hat. However, when compared to the manic pace of most modern children's films, The Goonies is downright laid back.

Regardless, the film is a classic of the eighties era of adventure movies. Back when Indiana Jones was big, you had a bunch of people who wanted to join in and put their own spin on it. The Goonies was actually devised by Spielberg himself, so it was sort of his own take on his own ideas: Put kids in place of Indiana Jones.

But it really is a classic in its own right. If you haven't seen it in awhile, watch it again. Any child of the eighties should have a copy on their hard drive ready to watch at the drop of a hat. You'll need it for when you have kids of your own and you want them to know how good movies used to be back when you were a kid!

Go And See Terminator Two Judgement Day

By Alba Jackson

James Cameron is back in the headlines thanks to Avatar, the new flick which supposedly revolutionizes cinema in much the same way as Terminator 2 did years before. That actually remains to be seen. If Avatar is still remembered in twenty years as a turning point in American film, that's when it'll get to be mentioned alongside Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Watch or rewatch it the next time you want to download movies.

Terminator 2 is always remembered as one of the most technologically innovative films ever made, but with Cameron, the special effects are only there to tell the story, not the other way around. The effects are always in service to the story, even with Avatar, which they say they're getting ready to release in "4D" whatever the heck that means.

If you haven't seen it yet, then... You must have been frozen in ice in the year 1991. Hello! Welcome to the 21st Century! No flying cars yet, sorry, but at least you can download movies online, so you have no excuse not to catch up on the classics of the last twenty years. If you're wondering what Terminator 2 is about, remember Terminator 1? Okay now imagine that the Terminator is back here to protect Sarah Connor's son this time from a liquid metal Terminator who wants to kill him. There, now you're caught up.

The movie does take some big steps in terms of special effects. Around twenty years later, the T1000 still stands as one of the greatest CGI characters ever. Every bit as believable as newer creation like Gollum and Doctor Manhattan from The Watchmen.

There's a purity to this movie. The first Terminator was maybe a little too in love with its heady, high sci-fi concept. This one stays focused on the action and on the characters, not on the twisty turny plot line. James Cameron always focuses on what's important, not effects, not plot, but on character, and sometimes on hardcore action scenes.

If you haven't seen it... We don't know what to tell you. If you have, it's a good time to watch it again. It's one of those rare action movies that actually has enough emotional depth that it gets better with each viewing.

Seriously, watch it again. The movie actually does have some layers of depth and emotional complexity, so each time you watch it, you watch it from a new perspective based on where you are in life, what you've experienced in the years since you've seen it last. It really is one of those all time great classics where it feels like a better and better film the older you get.

It's not just a classic as an action flick, it's actually a classic regardless of genre. Not just as sci-fi or as a shootemup, it's one of the best American movies made in the last twenty or thirty years, and some say one of the best films ever made, period. At the very least, it's one of the best sequels ever created, and it's never a bad time to go ahead and watch it again.

Why Parents Should Give The Razor Mini Pocket Rocket To Their Sons?

By Melissa Johnson

Next week my son will be seven years old. My spouse and I thought carefully what to offer him as a birthday gift. Seven years is an important age for a kid. And, as any good parents, we wanted to give him a nice gift. Last year, he did receive some puzzles. My son is really a genius and puzzles are the way to go with him. We gave him four full puzzles kits. Very nice ones and most importantly: theirs designs were incredible.

My kid and us finished those puzzles in family. Then we put them in our sons room. Since then, we had no idea so far what to offer him. Let's take some vacation: a family day at the beach ! It would be very funny ! But it will only last for a single day and we wanted to offer him more.

Doing more puzzles would be interesting or not for our kid ? The next kids store were great. This is where we went after the first one. The store was simply full of nice things for kids. Everything was there: anything electronic and of course some very interesting books. We then saw a nice toy; in fact it is a bike : the razor pocket rocket miniature. Incredible name for a toy ! We went to the puzzles corner searching for some. Maybe a bad idea, we thought. Two years in a row giving puzzles as gifts ?

Going back to our house, we looked online for what we could find as toys. Many websites has tons of toys available. Everything and most importantly the prices and delivery time were good for us. Let's see if there was no others options: we went outdoors and passed by the local kids park. Those children were having fun on that sunny day and we saw many of them skating around. A skate was great as a gift though we had a second thought : what if our kid would hurt himself ?

Back home, we were looking at some pictures of our son. How tall was he. He was growing up fast and for sure we will offer him a great birthday. We looked back at the friends list. Over 20 others kids were invited. We had to make sure to have enough cakes, beverages and fun stuff to do. Later this evening, we chose the gift for our kid. It was a great choice and we are sure he would be delighted with. As to tell what it is: well it is a secret !

Online gambling is often a very unnerving engagement. You don't know who you are playing with in real life, it can be very irksome at times. With Stonewasheds amazing live video feed technology, you actually get to see the people you are playing with face to face. And they even throw in this awesome background image so it looks like everyone is sitting around the same table...amazing! I love this feature.

I am a big blind better all the way and Stonewashed really knows how to pay out properly on big blinds, unlike a lot of "real" casinos- Stonewashed rewards you for having the cojones to go blind with a big bet. I don't appreciate when I take the risk, win the hand, but don't get the reward, you know what I am saying?

So anyways, if you are currently not thrilled with your online gambling portal I really encourage you to check out Stonewashed. They will make you feel right at home and help you start pissing away your money straight away! For geniuses like me of course, they only help me make money. Good luck, see you at the table!

Movie Downloading Is SLowly Taking Over From The Video Stores

By Sarah Whitney

If you like movies like just about everyone else, you may want to consider movie downloads from the internet. If you download movies from the internet you get convenience, enjoyment, and value all in one package. They are a great solution to spending tons of money at the movie theater every weekend. If you get your movies from the internet, you may enjoy your movies with little time investment or effort. You can also have the benefit of being able to multitask on the computer while watching a movie.

When you want to get movies online, you have many options. You may rent movies temporarily to your computer, or you may purchase them so that they are permanently on your computer. There are also both legal and illegal ways to get movies online. All in all, though, you can get both the coziness of your home and the convenience of the internet when you download movies online.

There are a few issues generally with getting movies off of the internet. The main issue watching the movie on a computer screen. Some computer screens are fairly large, and are great for watching movies. However some screens, such as laptop screens, can sometimes make watching movies irritating or difficult.

One solution to the issue of having a small screen is to take the movies that were purchased and burn them onto a DVD. These files must be stored on your computer, rather than temporary files. If you burn movies onto DVDs you may enjoy them in the comfort of your living room, or in any other room with a DVD player.

A less convenient and more expensive option is to get a projector and a projector screen. You may attach your computer to the projector, which then projects the movie onto the screen. This is not very convenient for some people, but it may be a good option.

If you are good with technology, you can hook up your computer to a TV or larger monitor. With the computer hooked up you can watch downloaded movies on your large screen. It is possibly the most convenient way to watch movies on a larger screen. If you do this, you get the convenience of the internet and the enjoyment of a bigger screen.

Downloading movies online can take many forms. There are websites that have pirated movies available for free, but these are illegal. If you get caught downloading illegal movies you may get in trouble with the law. There are quality issues with these sites as well, supposedly. There are also movie sites that offer free movies, yet charge monthly fees or only allow people to watch them for a limited amount of time. Only a few sites really offer free clips and movies.

When you download movies online for a fee, they are generally cheaper than either buying or renting movies in stores. Of course, buying movies is more expensive than streaming them for free. But when you buy or rent them, you can help the economy and avoid legal issues. The Quality of bought movies may be better and sites may be more trustworthy.

See The Film The Last Dragon

By Silvia Hewitt

The Last Dragon was actually a film produced by Motown Records back in the eighties. It seems that one of the primary concerns of the film might actually have been to promote new talent, particularly that one song, "Oh Sheila", you know, "Let me love you til the morning comes". But that doesn't change the fact that it's really a fun, exciting Kung Fu movie, and one of the must download movies of the eighties.

The movie follows a young martial artist nicknamed Bruce Leroy as he teaches the kids at the local dojo and works at his father's pizza parlor, delivering pies on foot throughout Harlem. He also tries to maintain his composure while dealing with hsi rival, Sho'Nuff, the Shogun of Harlem... Yep. Sho'Nuff... He's the Shogun of Harlem, you see.

Sho'Nuff, the Shogun of Harlem, is really a cinematic treasure as far as great film characters go. He tries to egg Bruce Leroy into a fight so that he can prove, once and for all, who the strongest fighter in the city is. Every time he steps on scene, it's with a short speech, aided by his lackeys. "Am I the prettiest?!" "SHO NUFF!" "Am I the baddest?!" "SHO NUFF!" "Am I the meanest, leanest mofo around dis town?!" "SHO NUFF!" "SHO'NUFF! Da Shogun of Harlem!" He wears visor sunglasses, a samurai's hakama (those baggy pants that disguise foot movement), and shoulder pads, as well as a top knot... He looks ridiculous and he's just a joy to behold.

If there's one downside to the movie, it's the whole subplot about the Cyndi Lauper wannabe singer and her promoter/boyfriend. He's trying to play hardball in order to get her played on the local music show, and... Well, it's just not really the high point of the movie. It's not too much of a distraction, but you'll find yourself wishing they'd just get back to the kung fu already.

But regardless, it is funny, and it does pay off with a big brawl scene at the end when he hires all the meanest guys in the city to attack Bruce Leroy and his students. The end result is a really great rumble scene with Leroy taking on a few dozen hilarious, wild characters before finally beating Sho'Nuff and attaining "The Glow" which is what you call it when they draw a halo of light around your body frame by frame.

There are also some really fun, corny moments along the way. At one point, Leroy tries to seek wisdom from the guy who writes the fortune cookies at the local Chinese restaurant, only to find that they're written by a computer. Therein he finds that zen wisdom of emptiness and being.

Perhaps the movie might have been better without the relatively uninteresting subplot. After all, you just came for the kung fu, right? But nevertheless, it still remains a classic of its genre, and one of the few films to successfully spoof kung fu movies and honor them at the same time. It's really a lot of fun, with just enough corny eighties style goofiness to make it one of the all time classic eighties comedies.

Next time you want a goofy, fun eighties flick, and you want to see a little kung fu while you're at it, go ahead and give The Last Dragon a download.

Sports And Physical Therapy: Increase Recovery From A Massage Chair

By Troy Austin

If you take on strenuous exercise or other types of similar activities, then you know that you risk being hurt. Muscles get pushed too far and sometimes can fail. This is true for other body parts. The stresses put on them can just be too great. Different injuries require particular physical therapy to recover. If you need to get physical therapy then they will focus on specific treatments to help your bones, muscles and ligament to gain strength and flexibility. These therapies will range from using exercise equipment to receiving massage therapy with a massage chair.

You may have just undergone surgery. Or you may be hurt but can recover without surgery. The physical therapist must be able to handle a wide variety of situations for their patients. They are going to design a specific regimen for you to follow. Their goals are to restore flexibility and also to help strengthen the injured or stressed areas. Your therapist is an expert in the make up of the muscle and skeletal systems. They also must know about typical surgery procedures. This helps them understand how scar tissue may form deeper within the body. You will use exercise equipment and perhaps a massage chair to help you heal the injury.

One of the first things you will do in physical therapy is to sit down with your therapist. You will go over in detail your physique and injured areas. The therapist understands surgeries and there affect on your muscle and skeletal systems. They will design a specific program with you. You will be put through a regimen of stretching. They will want you to gain more strength. You may need to do exercises or use specialized exercise equipment. They may rub down or massage certain areas of your injuries. They may have you receive massage therapy in a massage chair recliner. All these therapies are designed to help your recover fully.

One of the key areas when you start is to make your muscles more pliable. When an injury occurs, the body immobilizes the affected area. Your body has redundant systems for most everything. If your leg is injured, it will want the other leg to take over. The body does not want the injured leg used and tries to shut it down to heal it. This is good, but your muscles become stiff and tight. They actually hurt when you start to bend them. Stretching is an important part of the physical therapy routine to build back flexibility.

Exercises are important to help rebuild strength. When we have an injury, we tend to protect that area. Protecting that area is usually to isolate and immobilize it. In other words, we tend not to use the injured area. This helps to prevent further injury, but at the expense of strength and conditioning. To help rebuild the body, exercises help to build up strength, endurance and agility. Physical therapy clinics have a wide array of exercise equipment from treadmills, stationary bikes, weights and more. These help you focus building up a particular set of muscles.

Some of the problems encountered in the physical recovery process are scar tissue. Scar tissue forms harder than the original tissue. This needs recurring kneading and pressing massage to restore flexibility. The muscle tissue breaks down into shorter lengths when physically stressed. The muscles tissues need the fibers to be elongated to restore further flexibility. Massage therapy targets these two important areas. Some physical therapy clinics use massage therapists and may also use massage chairs. In either case, the focus is on increasing the longer term flexibility. Massage therapy is effective in loosening the muscles and scar tissue while increasing the blood and nutrient flow accelerate the healing process.

If you push your limits, you may sometimes go too far and suffer an injury. Or they may just happen. Either way, you just want to be fully recovered. The physical therapies being offered utilize top notch technology and methodologies. From massage chair recliners to treadmills, you will be exposed to a range of treatments designed for your full recovery.

A Full Synopsis Of The Hit Movie Mad Max 2

By Ross Salinas

Mad Max 2, also known as the Road Warrior, is simply put, one of the greatest action films ever created. It might even be one of the greatest films of all time, period, depending on your perspective. It is, at the very least, one of the most well crafted films in existence, one of the most well told, with clarity and coherence even amidst all the chaos the story provides. This is the one that made Mel Gibson a household name, and certainly one of the must download movies of all time.

There really aren't many movies out there that work so perfectly on so many levels. In the pantheon of action films, it's comparable to Robocop, and not much else. It's very strong, full of drama, action and, at times, humor and even tragedy.

You probably know everything about the movie, but it's worth a recap nevertheless: After World War III, food, water and gasoline have all become scarce. The outback of Australia has become a wasteland, overrun by ruthless gangs of warlords and thugs. Mad Max is a former cop now just trying to stay alive and find enough gas and water to get from one day to the next, to keep himself, his dog, and his car alive.

Throughout his trials in the previous film, Max became just as much of a ruthless beast as the criminals he'd been chasing. Here, he's offered a chance at redemption, at becoming a part of society, or what is left of it, once more.

The movie is really just one big chase scene, only stopping here and there just long enough to give the audience a moment to catch their breath. While a lesser movie might have been made boring by all this action, in The Road Warrior, the action and the story are one and the same. Character and plot are both developed through action, not like the modern action flick where the fights and chases only get in the way of the story.

In the end the movie is really a statement on heroism, delving into Joseph Campbellian mythological structure and coming up with what many Australians consider to be "Star Wars Down Under". It's certainly one of the most successful films to ever come out of that country, and is still considered a national treasure of the Australian cinema all these decades later.

It will likely go down as one of the great westerns and western influenced films. It should stand alongside Stagecoach in that regard, in that it really is just great action and physical heroism from beginning to end.

The movie is loud, fast and aggressive, full of insane characters and crazy stunts (several stuntmen almost died, in fact). It may well be one of the greatest films ever made for storytelling and craftsmanship, and if not, it's certainly one of the all time great action films, and certainly worth a watch whether or not you're usually an action fan. It's definitely one to see before you die, and if you haven't seen it yet, you want to ASAP.

Video Stores Are Becoming Out Dated

By Bernadette Chang

Movie downloads online present a greater opportunity to be able to build up your movie collection quickly. It also cost less money than going into your high street store or ordering online and waiting them to be delivered which has its own set of complications which come with that in many cases.

Up until recent times, it was only possible to download movies from the Internet and eagerly by using the popular file sharing programs. However, this is a risky business not only because it is illegal, but you have a high chance of getting malicious software and your computer.

It is also very convenient since if you enjoy a reading movie reviews on the Internet and such, if you see a film which is of interest to you, you can simply download it. Rather than having to go all the way to the store only to find that they probably haven't got the movie you want in stock, you can buy it online and download it straight away. Obviously, because you are downloading digital products, you never have to worry about things running out of stock.

With today's super fast broadband Internet connections, it seems a bit of a waste not to be able to download the stuff that you want to be able to download. It is also much more convenient than going into high street store and trying to find what you want when it may well not even be in stock anyway.

Since you are downloading digital data, you obviously don't have to worry about the item that you want going out of stock. You can download music, video games and all sorts of applications but of course it will cost you a modest amount of money. Nonetheless, the costs are typically lower than the alternatives.

It is much more efficient to ward and download your movies online if you have a decent Internet connection. Even if your connection is not overly reliable, that should not be a big problem if you have a decent download manager which allows you to pause and resume any downloads.

This will certainly help to get rid of any frustration because as we all know, there is nothing worse than downloading enormous file just to see a stop and 99% because the Internet connection has failed.

You will also want to be aware of the different formats available. Presumably, you want to be able to play the movies that you download on a conventional DVD player or at least have the option to be able to do so in the future. This should not be a problem, since you can burn movies to a DVD disk and providing you get a popular format, your DVD player should be able to play about any problem. DivX movies are the most popular form at so this is what you should go for if you want ultimate versatility and ease of use.

Dallas Routs Hapless Seattle

By Ross Everett

Quarterback Tony Romo had another solid game, and the Dallas Cowboys made short work of the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon in a 38-17 victory. Romo threw for 256 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions, and receiver Miles Austin caught a touchdown pass for the third straight game. The Cowboys improved to 5-2 with the win, while the Seahawks dropped to 2-5.

The Cowboys also got on the winning side of the NFL pointspread ledger with the win and cover as -10 home favorites. Dallas is now 4-3 against the spread for the season, while Seattle fell to 2-5 versus the number.

Romo has made greater patience in the pocket a priority this season, and it's paying dividends. Sunday's game was his third straight without an interception and he's stayed interception free in five games this season-more than he did all of last year. Romo couldn't resist a joke at his own expense:

"Shock! I'm seeing things. It's as simple as that. I'm not throwing and hoping."

Head coach Wade Phillips expressed his pleasure, but didn't want his team to start believing their own press clippings:

"I feel good about the progress we've made, but we've still got a ways to go."

Team owner Jerry Jones was happy with the performance and already looking ahead to next Sunday's game at Philadelphia:

"I'm just glad to see as many people really do as well and play as well as they did today. Philadelphia is the kind of game that I think we're ready for. ... Plus, I think we all remember so much -- I know I do and so many players on this team remember -- how we left Philadelphia last year."

Seattle quarterback Todd Hasselbeck played well, amassing 249 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions but didn't get much help from a defense that couldn't put the necessary pressure on Romo. He sounded frustrated in his postgame comments:

"We put two weeks into this game plan. I felt like we were ready. We just didn't get it done. .... I feel physically drained, emotionally drained. I'm frustrated. We're all searching for answers."

The big game for the Cowboys that Jerry Jones alluded to is next Sunday night as they travel to Philadelphia to face the Eagles. The Cowboys have been installed as +3 underdogs with the total set at 47'. They'll head to Green Bay to take on the Packers the following Sunday before returning home to play the hated Washington Redskins. Seattle will host the lowly Detroit Lions next Sunday, with the Seahawks a -10 home favorite and the total set at 43.

Sunglasses Your Perfect Summer Ornament

By Anthony Anderson

Summer has always been one of the best seasons to look forward to. Travelogues come up with brilliant euphonies such as "Best Summer Ever" or "Super Summer" to promote this season. But beware of all the excitement that comes with it; for, like a medicine, its preparation should be carefully noted-or else, the best season can turn out to be the worst one.

What do people usually do during summer? What else but go travelling and enjoy the summer sun by the beach. However, "summer people" are inclined to forget, because of giddiness, their checklist to their venture. So before you jump into the water and get your skin tanned, check out our summer list.

Slip flip-flops on for a convenient traipse and trek. Buy a malong that is not only perfect for the summer season but also a very helpful article of clothing. Grab your best hot swim-suit for your ultimate outfit (you would not want to be the "lost-one" if you are going to wear off-season garments right?). Bring sun block to help your melanin in protecting you from the Sun's harmful rays. Wear wide-rimmed hats to cool your head. And finally, put those sunglasses on, a certified summer ornament that will complete your get up. If you will have all these absolute must-haves, then you will surely enjoy all your upcoming summer adventure!

Some people relate summer sunshine to happiness; how it literally brightens up someone's day. Others on the other hand see it (the Sun) as something which raises hot-tempered people-also known as curmudgeons. Objectively speaking, our view of the summer can be positive or negative; but actually, it really depends on how we have prepared for it.

Just like what a saying has said, "Failure to Prepare is a Preparation to fail". My advice for the summer/sun pessimists, try "practicing" the season wearing a sunglass. Hopefully, you will see the difference and love summer just like we do.

Before Joining A Movie Download Service Look At A Few Of Them

By Kristen Hensley

Going for movie downloads is a more convenient way of enjoying blockbusters nowadays. Because of the internet, now you got other means of getting titles aside from renting or purchasing DVD copies. Through this, you need not step out of the house and drive elsewhere. But before signing up for a site providing this convenience, there are some thing you need to take note of.

Different download sites have different payment terms. But there are also sites that offer multiple payment terms. What you pick should depend on how much movies you can actually afford to watch. For example, you don't want to go with a fixed monthly rate when you can enjoy movie watching only once a week.

Some sites will require you to pay a fixed rate, either per month or per year. However, there are those where you pay only for each title that you buy and download. Before getting a subscription, weigh the pros and cons. Will it be cheaper than actually renting a movie or buying a DVD? Will you be able to take full advantage of the payment you will make?

With regards to the titles you can pick, this will depend on which studios the site you're eyeing has agreement with. There are websites that focus more on indie films. But there are also those who carry a lot of mainstream movies. Where you subscribe to will depend on your taste for movies. You don't want to pay for a site not catering to your taste.

Check the quality of the available titles. This is to ensure that you will have an enjoyable experience watching a blockbuster, and not end up with a headache. Consider the movie's screen resolution. A resolution is the size of the picture in terms of pixels. One example is 640x480 pixels. Another is 1280x1024 pixels.

Another thing you should consider is the bitrate. Sometimes you will see it expressed in bps, or bits per second. Other times it can be expressed in kbps, or kilobits per second. But you can skip burdening yourself with the technicalities behind screen resolutions and bitrates. To make things easy for you: the higher the numbers are, the better the quality.

A way to tell whether a download site is good or bad is by looking at the number of memberships. While it may not give a clear-cut evaluation, it is a good place to start. There must be a reason why a particular site is popular, thus it has more subscribers. Maybe the members are satisfied with the site's good service.

Security is another issue you need to be wary of. And by security, it means both on the files you download and online payment methods. Some files you get online may come with adwares, trojans, malwares, etc. These can harm your computer. But most legal sites are free of such threats. Payment through credit card or online banking must be guaranteed secured as well by the site.

Lastly, read on the terms and agreements of the website what you can do with your movie downloads afterwards. Will you be able to transfer your titles to other devices and play them? Will you be able to burn them onto DVDs? Some sites only allow you streaming, so you really don't get to save the movie itself. Check just how much flexibility a site can give you.

School Your Self About Skimboards

By Paul White

Maybe you want to be a surfer, but you have no beach nearby. Maybe you want to be a snow boarder, but you have no snowy mountains. Well, can you find a wet spot somewhere? Can you find a decent mud puddle or something? Because the thing for you to try is skimboards.

These things are more fun than a barrel full of monkeys, and so easy to make that a monkey could do it. All it comes down to is a disc of plywood, maybe something to seal the wood up with, and a wet spot to slide it across. Oh, and some guts are good, too.

It really is a rush, and really could not be simpler. These are perfect at the beach when the waves are flat, or on the lake when the boat is low on gas. If you trucks are wasted on the skate, toss the wood instead. Low tech can make for some high times, all right?

What you are going to want to get stared is a disc of plywood. Try to get some thick enough to not break underway, and big enough to cut about a two-and-a-half foot circle. You want to be able to stand on it with both feet and still have plenty of room to jump on and off of the thing. Then seal with old paint or whatever that will do the trick.

Get some paint, or some crayons, or whatever you can scrounge up and decorate it. Put you name on it, or carve it if they will let you handle sharp tools. At least put your name on the thing so someone does not take it for a dog house door or something.

Then go out and find that little bit of water you need. Wear old clothes because you will fall down, go boom, and get wet and dirty. And you will have fun. Skimboards are simple to make, gravy to use, and quick to master. Easy is rarely so much fun.

Patriots And Bill Belichick - Defying Parity

By Freddie Brister

During Pete Rozelle's time as the Commissioner of the National Football League, he had few ambitions higher than that of achieving parity in the League he so loved. Rules were shaped and reshaped in his 29-year tenure in an attempt to ensure that every team in the NFL would have the opportunity to compete for a title, and to prevent the type of dynasties that had previously held sway over professional football - the dynasties once enjoyed by the Packers, Cowboys, Steelers, and 49ers of the football world. The desire for parity played a role in every key NFL decision - from revenue-sharing to free agency to the order of the draft - and few could argue with the results. In fact, only one team has managed to create anything close to a dynasty over the last ten years of the League's history: the New England Patriots.

Since 2000

A glance at any list of Super Bowl Winners over the last ten years reveals that the Patriots are really the only team to escape the gravitational pull of parity and soar into the stratosphere. Under Bill Belichick's leadership, the Patriots have appeared in four of the last ten Super Bowls and won three of those contests. Their appearances in the title game are double that of their nearest competitors, the Indianapolis Colts and Pittsburgh Steelers, making the Patriots the only true dynasty of the age of parity. Under Belichick, the Patriots have won their division six of ten times, won their conference four times, and managed a winning record of one-hundred and sixteen wins to only forty-five losses. That remarkable streak of success also includes an undefeated regular season campaign in 2007.

How do they do it?

Some have attributed Belichick's winning ways to what they say is an underrated quarterback in Tom Brady. Others simply believe they have benefited from an imagined decline in the across the board level of talent in the NFL. Most scoff at both notions. While Brady has been an effective field general for the team, there is no arguing with the fact that it is Belichick's overall coaching and management system that has allowed the Patriots to prosper in the age of parity.

A system in action

Any study of the Patriots during the period from 2000 to present has to begin with the team's attitude. Winning is the main focus of the squad, and there is little time for the ego and self-interest that drives the players of so many other franchises throughout the NFL. Modern football has become an ego and pride-driven enterprise, but Belichick has managed to weed this out of his team. Everyone knows their roles, and is committed to obtaining the same goals: divisional, conference, and Super Bowl victories.

It is this form of thinking that has enabled the New England franchise to keep the concept of dynasty alive and to ensure that their team is truly among the best in the current NFL.

UFC 85 Flashback: Alves, Bisping Win

By Ross Everett

Thiago Alves dominated the former UFC welterweight champion en route to a 2nd round TKO victory at UFC 83. The main event at UFC 85 in London was somewhat anticlimactic to the fans at the O2 Arena who considered the semifinal matchup between Manchester's Michael Bisping and Jason Day the biggest fight on the card. Bisping actually improved upon his excellent showing against Charles McCarthy at UFC 83 and pummeled Day mercilessly from the top mount position until the fight was stopped.

Hughes didn't make any excuses following his one sided loss, saying simply that hes a good fighter and he got me. The longtime king of the UFCs welterweight division also gave notice that his career as an active fighter was drawing to a close, suggesting that he had one fight left and challenging Matt Serra in what presumably would be his retirement match.

The end came early in the 2nd round as Hughes was caught coming in by a devastating knee strike. He fell to the canvas in a heap and referee Herb Dean was jumping in to stop the contest before Alves could follow up with any punches. As the ringside physician entered the ring to check on the fallen fighter, Hughes gave an indication that his knee was injured.

Michael Bisping simply overwhelmed Jason Day en route to a lopsided TKO victory. Bisping built upon the improved boxing skills he demonstrated at UFC 83 by unveiling an impressive ground and pound attack. Day never really got anything going and by the last minute of the fight was simply trying to cover up to prevent damage from Bispings elbows and hammer fists. Between his move down to the middleweight division and his improved technical striking skills, Bisping looks like a different fighter.

In other action, Mike Swick used an array of high kicks and a 7 reach advantage to coast to a unanimous decision over Marcus Davis. Davis, a former professional boxer, was unable to get inside against his lanky opponent and was never really in the fight.

A controversial point deduction for a strike to the back of the head cost Nate Marquardt his match against Thales Leites. Marquardt was solidly in charge for the entire fight, but suffered a point deduction for an illegal knee strike in round one. While that infraction was valid, replays of the 2nd round deduction for the strike to the back of the head gave the impression that he was penalized for a legal strike to the side of the head. The 2 point deduction changed the outcome of the fight, with Leites winning a split decision by the scores of 28-27, 28-27, 27-28. Marquardt was obviously disappointed in the outcome, but to his credit handled the loss with class despite the questionable nature of the outcome.

In the opening PPV match, another controversial ending saw Fabrico Werdum defeat Brandon Vera by 1st round KO. The fight had been evenly contested up until the stoppage, with Werdum scoring a couple of takedown and Vera countering with some effective punching. Late in the first round, Werdum got a full mount and began to fire a series of punches. Vera was clearly defending himself and didnt appear to be hurt at all when the referee jumped in to stop the fight. Vera said that hed answered that he was OK when asked by ref Dan Miragliotta and that he was just trying to ride out the round from that position.

How George St Peirre Started His MMA Career

By William Stone

Georges St-Pierre was born May 19, 1981 in Saint-Isidore, Quebec, to Jim and Louise St-Pierre. St-Pierre had a difficult childhood, attending a school where others would steal his clothes and money. He started learning Kyokushin karate at age seven by his father and later by a Kyokushin Karate Master to defend himself against a school bully, Nikolas Mavrikos.

He took up wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu after his karate teacher died and also trained in boxing. Before turning pro as a mixed-martial artist, St-Pierre worked as a bouncer at a Montreal night club in the South Shore called Fuzzy Brossard and as a garbageman for six months to pay for his school fees.

St-Pierre has trained with a number of groups in a large variety of gyms throughout his fighting career. Prior to his fight with B.J. Penn at UFC 58, he trained at the Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy in New York City. St-Pierre received his brown belt in BJJ from Renzo Gracie on July 21, 2006. In September 2008, St-Pierre earned his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Bruno Fernandes.

St-Pierre began training with Rashad Evans, Nathan Marquardt, Keith Jardine, Donald Cerrone, and other skilled MMA fighters at Greg Jackson's Submission Fighting Gaidojutsu school in New Mexico. Some of Jackson's students accompanied St-Pierre to Montreal to help prepare him for his fight at UFC 94 against B.J. Penn at the Tristar Gym, including Keith Jardine, Nathan Marquardt, Donald Cerrone and Rashad Evans. Georges' strength and conditioning coach is Jonathan Chaimberg of Adrenaline Performance Centre in Montral. Georges' Head Trainer is Firas Zahabi of Zahabi MMA, out of the Tristar gym. The two have cornered all of St-Pierre's most recent bouts and remain as his close friends. Currently, St-Pierre trains in Muay Thai under Phil Nurse at the Wat in New York City.

St-Pierre had dreamed of becoming a UFC champion since watching Royce Gracie fight in 1993 at UFC 1. St-Pierre had his first amateur bout when he was only 16 years old. He said, "When I won my first amateur (MMA) fight, I was 16 years old and I beat a guy that was 25. I was only a Kyokushin karate fighter and the guy I fought was a boxer. At the time my ground skills were very poor, I didn't know anything on the ground." St-Pierre won his fight by knockout, going low with several leg kicks and then going high with a kick to the head.

St-Pierre's pro debut was against Branden Macfadden and the fight ended in a first round to-knockout win by St-Pierre. In only his second fight, St-Pierre's challenge for the UCC belt against Justin Bruckmann. He won by an arm bar in the first round. He then went on to defend his title twice. The UCC aka Universal Combat Challenge was then converted to TKO Major League MMA and he was named the champion. He fought on November 29, 2003 against Pete Spratt in a non-title bout at TKO 14. St-Pierre defeated Spratt with a rear naked choke in the first round. Following his second win in the UFC, he faced Matt Hughes at UFC 50 for the vacant UFC Welterweight Championship. Despite a competitive performance against the much more experienced fighter, St-Pierre tapped out to an armbar with only 1 second remaining in the first round. The loss was the first of St-Pierre's career and he has since admitted that he was in awe of Hughes going into the title bout.

Using Quality Movie Download Sites Is The Way To Go

By Cody Weaver

Everyone loves watching movies and getting your movies through movie downloads makes this much more economical.

Going out for a late night movie with your friends and family could be pretty expensive. Transportation, snacks and movie tickets cost you a lot just for a single movie. Instead of enjoying the movie, you worry about having to cut the grocery list just to keep up with your week's budget.

The parents often want to watch one type of movie while the kids want to watch another, so do we they twice? This can turn out to be a very expensive exercise and that is not even taking into account the popcorn and other refreshments that go along with it.

Children love movies and more and more, parents are also paying full adult price for their children's tickets. There are seldom discounted tickets for children. Add in the cost of the refreshments mentioned about and you can easily see how the cost is increased and the entire trip is even more expensive. Kids usually need an adult to accompany them so that adds further to what has already become an overpriced outing. Financially, it is a waste of money for a two hour movie experience.

What about date nights for the parents? For mom and dad to go out in the evenings, they first need to find a babysitter and that is going to set them back extra money that they probably don't have. Then they also do the popcorn and drink stop and all the while they are both wondering how the children are. So by the time the movie is over they have spent more money than they can probably afford and were not even really relaxed while watching. Once again this does not make much sense.

Luckily today we have the Internet and it provides us with the ability to download movies at a fraction of the cost of going to the theater. With Internet downloads you can choose any movies you like from the newest releases to old time favorites, the choice is limitless.

On the other hand, all the benefits of movie downloads are being abused by people who take advantage of the desire to see movies on line. Illegal movie sites are all over the Internet, other websites charge memberships fees that are very unreasonable. Some movie downloads could carry viruses or spy ware that can affect the performance of your computer. So, beware of downloading movies and always make sure they come from a highly reputable movie website.

Still, movie downloads can be very reliable for many people who wants to take some time off from work and a stressful day. All you have to do is end your day with your family sharing popcorn and guessing the next scene from your favorite movie download. Sit back, relax and enjoy the film.

Movie Downloads That Are Illegal Are Often Very Bad

By Louise Huber

These days, technology is so advanced that it is more or less commonplace to see one or more home computers in the house, with a high-speed connection to the internet. This has helped illegal movie downloads to become an increasingly big problem. In many cases, people do not even realize that they are downloading material illegally, and most people have no clue as to the impact of these illegal activities. It is, however, an important topic for modern society to be aware of, as illegal downloads affect a huge number of industries and individuals.

What is illegal downloading?

Every country has its own laws and regulations with regards to copyrighted material and downloads. This should serve as a basic guide to what may constitute illegal downloading of movies.

Sometimes movie pirates are able to make movies available before download before they have finished playing cinemas, and sometimes before they have even been released in theaters. These copies are always illegal. You will find that legal DVD versions are generally released three months after they have played in cinemas. Where something has been made available before that time, it is guaranteed to have been obtained without the appropriate permissions.

One of the most common ways of downloading movies is through file-sharing services. Generally, if an individual provides copyrighted materials to another individual without appropriate permission, that individual is engaging in an illegal activity. In many countries, those people who download this copyrighted material are also deemed to be participating in an illegal activity. Peer-to-peer downloads, such as those obtained through BitTorrents, are usually an unlawful way to obtain movies.

What is the impact of these downloads?

By downloading material illegally, you are robbing the owners of the movie of their profit. If you think about this in the context of millionaire movie producers and actors, you may not have much empathy for the situation. But the effect is more far-reaching than that. Cinemas and DVD retailers rely on the sales of movie tickets and DVD copies to survive. If you download a movie instead of hiring it from your local video store, then that video store is missing out on profit. If the problem continues to increase, then movie theaters and video stores, especially small businesses, may lose business and have to shut down.

Australia's film industry is particularly vulnerable to the effects of movie piracy. The already-struggling industry is said to lose several hundred million dollars each year in potential revenue because people are downloading free versions of films instead of choosing legal, paid options. This means that the capacity of Australian film producers to make more films in the future is greatly limited. This is a shame, as Australian films provide a means to explore the uniqueness of Australian culture, as well as providing a medium for creative expression and ingenuity. As such, it ought to receive full support from movie viewers.

Is illegal downloading a punishable offense?

The answer is yes, downloading illegal or copyrighted material is a punishable offense in a number of countries such as the United States and Australia. In countries where downloading is illegal, individuals can be prosecuted. These people may be fined thousands, even millions, of dollars. Warnings on legal copies of movies will say what the punishments are for such offenses in your country or region.

You can probably appreciate now the problem posed by illegal movie downloads. People from around the world can be affected by your choices, from movie producers to DVD retailers and cinemas. And don't forget that you can be caught, and the fine you receive will definitely affect you. There are enough legal alternatives available that there is no real excuse for illegally downloading films. Support film industries all over the world and purchase legally produced films.
