A Synopsis Of Mr Smith Goes To Washington

By Jessie Franklin

Mr Smith Goes To Washington was thought to be a very controversial film for its time. It starred James Stewart, who played the main character Jefferson Smith. Jefferson was a simple man and a bit of a local hero known for his honesty. And after a series of events, he becomes a United States Senator, feeling much like a fish out of water.

Jefferson has no idea what he is in store for. When he takes a tour of Washington D. C., he is in awe of its history and significance in American culture. He quickly appears more provincial than his fellow Senators. Many don't even know why he's there. Others know he is only there because of his simple ways. But poor Jefferson is completely in the dark as to the true intentions of those that placed him there. He is just proud to have the opportunity to serve his country and be a part of the American political system.

Jefferson was brought into the White House by his state's governor, after the passing of the previous Senator. The Governor thought Smith was a perfect replacement because of his honest reputation and lack of experience; he thought Jefferson would be an easy man to manipulate. Jefferson is unaware of this plan. His highly patriotic outlook on American politics blinds him to the underhanded schemes plaguing the Senate.

Jefferson believes in the integrity of the government and puts his full faith and trust in those that create policy and uphold laws. His peers do not take him seriously. He appears to be out of place and not as sophisticated as his other fellow Senators. At times, he is considered to be a bumbling idiot and too small town to work and understand the complex world of government politics. But they soon find out they underestimated Jefferson and he becomes a force to be contended with once he finds out about the dishonest dealings taking place.

Jefferson learns of the corrupt deals exchanging hands between Senators. He is saddened and shocked by the revelation. But he quickly goes into action and seeks to fix the Senate and restore its integrity. He stands alone against those against him and fights for a just Senate.

Jefferson takes the Senate floor for hours, exposing the wrongdoings of various Senators. He recites the United States Constitution word for word. He makes sure his voice is heard. Jefferson continues on to the point of exhaustion and passes out on the State floor. His voice is finally heard and the American people tout him as a hero for going up against the entire Senate.

This film was considered the first whistle blower movie of its time. It showed American politics in a light that was never seen before. And for this very reason it was protested by many. Many politicians thought it portrayed the United States government poorly and were concerned about the views of other countries. The film was actually banned in several countries. It had an immediate and wide impact on the viewing public.

Mr Smith Goes to Washington is definitely an American film classic. The theme explores the idea that it only takes one person to stand up for justice. Integrity and honesty are still values Americans hold true and dear to the operation of their government. And Jefferson proved to be that hero people needed to look up to.

Kikujiro By Takeshi Kitano

By Leonard Whitfield

Takeshi Kitano is without a doubt one of the greatest living film directors. He got his start as a film director with the action film Violent Cop. Interestingly, he sort of stumbled into this job. He was hired to play a supporting role, when the director dropped out. Kitano took the reins of the project and reworked the comedic script into a much darker, more sombre film. He upped his own role to lead and then turned the story into something more akin to Dirty Harry, where it had previously been more along the lines of Lethal Weapon and other comedic action flicks. Kikujiro is worlds away from Violent Cop, and certainly one of the must download internet movies if you want to see what Takeshi Kitano is really all about.

Kikujiro is really something different, or was at the time, for Kitano. He had generally been creating violent gangster films about the Yakuza. He first moved away from that genre with a film about surfers. When asked why his new movie had no yakuza in it, he said "Well you know yakuza have to chop off their fingers on their left hand when they disobey orders. And surfers have to paddle their boards out to sea. If a yakuza tried to surf, he would only paddle in circles." This sense of humor defines all of his work, including the sentimental, touching tale told in Kikujiro.

Kitano really has had an interesting career. Having once been a popular stage comedian, he stumbled into that career, too. He had been the emcee of a popular nightclub when the comedian of the night got sick and Kitano had to take over. The rest is history.

Eventually he became a popular TV show host, and even got a chance to make his own video game with Takeshi's Challenge. This game was really more of a torture device than anything, with ridiculous challenges such as demanding that the player hit a button thousands of times to progress, or sing into a microphone plugged into the Nintendo for an hour straight. The game was made, as the title screen declares, by "a man who hates video games." Well, the game certainly hates the player.

Kitano's odd sense of humor comes through very well in this movie. Kitano plays Kikujiro, an old man who fits the lovable loser archetype. He escorts a young boy across Japan to meet his estranged mother. He winds up blowing all their money at the tracks, thinking the kid is some kind of psychic after predicting three race winners in a row.

So Kitano is then forced to beg for food, scoring two sandwiches, and eating his own out of the boy's sight so he can pretend that he's doing without for the child's sake. This is a very sweet moment, with Kikujiro showing that he's not above lying to try and earn the boy's respect and affection.

The movie is, again, very sweet. Watching the old man and the young boy bond is moving and touching, and within one another, the two find their own definition of the word family.

It is, certainly, one of Kitano's best. Sonatine is the film he's really known for in the US, but Kikujiro is one of his many crowning achievements.

Rio De Janerio Wins 2016 Summer Olympic Games

By Ross Everett

South America will host the Summer Olympic Games for the first time in 2016, as Rio De Janeiro, Brazil was awarded the honor on Friday. Rio beat out the US choice of Chicago, Illinois along with Tokyo, Japan and Madrid, Spain to earn the right to host the games. Despite a high pressure effort from the American power elite--including President Barack Obama and TV gabfest queen Oprah Winfrey--Chicago was the first city eliminated from contention. Tokyo was the next to go, before Rio got the nod over Madrid in the final round of balloting.

Bookmakers offered odds on the host city choice, with Rio listed as second favorite at +200. Chicago had been the wagering favorite at most books, particularly after President Obama got involved personally in the US bid effort. Chicago was bet as high as a -300 favorite, while Madrid and Tokyo were priced in the +250 range. Some suggest that Tokyo didnt deserve to have such short odds, but was the beneficiary of regional pride from the notoriously enthusiastic betting population of Japan. Despite some media attention to the betting odds, bookmakers reported that they didn't receive a lot of action on the event.

Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil, got the better of his US counterpart with a passionate speech that stood in marked contrast to Obamas typically baleful collection of talking points;

"It is a time to address this imbalance. It is time to light the Olympic cauldron in a tropical country."

The Olympic committee was apparently swayed by this presentation and paid no mind to Rios many downsides. It is without a doubt the most dangerous of the finalist cities, where drug cartels and armed bands of thugs roam without impunity. Well do to Rio citizens are used to removing watches and jewelry before they drive anywhere lest they be targeted by carjacking brigands. Rios murder rate is also one of the highest in the world. Brazilian bid officials have stressed that security will be a priority at the games and it better be lest the Olympics turn into a bloodbath. For the time being, however, the mood in Rio was one of celebration with over 50,000 residents dancing and partying in the streets.

Some IOC members suggested that the summary dismissal of Chicagos bid was more of a rebuke of the notoriously corrupt USOC. The last two Olympics held in the US were tainted by crime and corruption. The'96 Atlanta Olympics were disrupted by a terrorist bombing, while the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Games were marred by a well known bribery and corruption scandal.

Redskins Offense In Disarray As Lewis Takes The Reins

By Ross Everett

The Washington Redskins are a mess right now. Head coach Jim Zorn has a tenuous hold on his job at best and has recently been stripped of his offensive play calling duties. Management installed newly hired 'offensive consultant' Sherman Lewis as the new offensive play caller and the team has set up an awkward arrangement for him to get the plays to the quarterbacks. For that reason, starting QB Jason Campbell has some serious misgivings about the efficacy of the setup.

Lewis has only been out of retirement and with the team for two weeks, and has spent this week trying to ingest a crash course on the Redskins' offensive schemes. While he was learning on the job, head coach Zorn was trying to put the best spin possible on what can only be seen as a de facto demotion and vote of 'no confidence':

"I need to have composure. I need to understand what the reality of the situation is, and I think our players expect me to rise up. We expect them to play under adverse conditions. We expect them to risk it all. ... I'm conscious of what's going on. I'm not naive about what's going on, and yet I have to just hold back on any feelings and make the decisions."

Quarterback Campbell is more concerned about the convoluted system of getting plays from Lewis to him:

"There'll probably be a couple of plays I have in my head just in case if some reason it doesn't get in on time."

Here's how things are supposed to work-Lewis will sit in the coaches' box above the field and read the plays off a sheet. While Lewis has years of experience working in the so called 'West Coast Offense', Zorn left doubt that he really knows what he's doing at this point stressing that Lewis "doesn't know the protections" and "doesn't know the blitz schemes." Nevertheless, he'll be running the offense when the Redskins take on Philadelphia this Monday night.

Once Lewis figures out what to call, that's when it really gets tricky. He'll relay the plays via headset not to Zorn but to offensive coordinator Sherman Smith. Smith will then inform the quarterback what to run. Zorn is left in the role of a passive bystander on offense, though he will listen in to the playcalling on his headset.

Backup quarterback Todd Collins also shared his concern with the new arrangement:

"It is unsettling. I've never gone through this before. I've never had a play caller get changed in the middle of the season."

Lewis didn't exactly evoke a lot of confidence upon his hiring, where he revealed that he'd been calling bingo games at a seniors' center to kill time since his retirement in 2004. Still, Collins gave him a guarded vote of confidence;

"I know he's been studying last year's game against the Eagles and seems to have a pretty good idea how he wants to call the game this week. It's the same plays. He might coach them a little differently or highlight some different areas, but the offense hasn't gone under an overhaul or anything like that."

The Redskins haven't scored more than 17 points in a game this season, so maybe the thinking is that things can't get any worse.

Blue Jackets Blow Lead, Lose To Penguins In Shootout

By Ross Everett

The Columbus Blue Jackets learned a valuable lesson about NHL hockey on Friday night-it's dangerous to 'sit on a lead' and particularly against the defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins. Down 3-1, Pittsburgh tied the game late in the third period as Ruslan Fedotenko and Alex Goligoski each lit the lamp with less than three minutes remaining. After a scoreless overtime period, Sidney Crosby scored the only goal of the shootout to give the Penguins an improbable 4-3 victory. It was the 9th win in ten games for Pittsburgh, who are a perfect 6-0-0 on the road. Columbus lost for the fifth time in six games after a 5-1 start to the NHL season.

NHL hockey betting enthusiasts cashed wagers on the road underdog Penguins, but on the moneyline at +117 and the puckline. Pittsburgh has gotten off to a great start this year, going 11-2-0 in the first month of the season. Columbus is struggling to stay above .500 at 6-5-1. The 7 combined goals scored went OVER the posted total of 5'. The Blue Jackets have gone OVER in 7 of 12 games this season, while the Penguins have a NHL totals mark of 5-7-1.

Crosby's game winning score in overtime wasn't exactly the stuff of highlight reels, with the puck barely trickling over the line:

"It was kind of a fluky. The puck kept going. I don't know if he lost it or he didn't know where it was or whatever. I just tried a quick shot. I thought he had the save there. It just trickled in."

Jackets' goalie Steve Mason gave this version of events:

"It hit my stick and I didn't get it settled until it was over the line. It just trickled over and I was too late on it."

Penguins' left winger Chris Kunitz scored a shorthanded goal and praised the leadership abilities of team captain Crosby:

"It shows a lot of character from our captain. He goes out and he's never quitting on anything. Sometimes a team goes packing, down by two with 3 minutes left. But he goes out, he's on the bench, he's saying, 'Let's get the next one.' So we go out there and he finds himself the puck and he gets it to Goligoski, he gets a great shot and puts it in the net to get us to overtime."

Columbus' Rick Nash suggested that his team is having trouble 'closing out' games:

"We're not closing games. We got the lead in a lot of the games already and just can't seem to close it out. They are the defending Stanley Cup champions. You can tell why they're such a good team. We are a team that needs to learn how to play with the lead."

Pittsburgh will host Minnesota on Saturday night before heading to southern California next week for games against the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks. Columbus will play at Washington on Sunday before hosting the San Jose Sharks next Wednesday. That'll be followed by a game in Atlanta against the Thrashers the next night.

Going To The Movies Is Very Expensive So Use Movie Downloads

By Luz Ellison

Renting or buying a movie today has options. A drive towards the store or a walk will make it possible that you watch the movie. After watching it, you can return the DVD. But it does appear a tiring activity. If you so wanted to find ways to changing the used ways, you can certainly go to various sites and try the movie downloads. With just a click, the website will render you the service you want.

Those sites that are legally operating allows you to burn the file in playable DVD so that you will be able to watch it at home even without the aid of computer or laptop. Also, there is permission from the owners of the films. The other films that are included in their lists are acquired by the business owner already. These websites, worth to say, are low cost and does not just lead users to other sites making things complicated. If you have visited those directing-here-to-there sites, it is possible that it is illegal.

Key to finding the prominent movie downloads site is looking if they have the lists of latest full movie. Some give it for free and in addition to that, the procedure of downloading will be very easy. You can also base the review and the movie rate.

Recently though, people in the internet prefer the use of peer to peer sharing file programs. Example of BitTorrent and Kazaa would appear as sharing for pirated videos. It violates the copyright law, yes. However many businesses now have the same structure and use the same principle.

Most of the sites are organizing their titles for specific movie relation since they have huge selection for viewing pleasure. There are some also where you will be required in using download manager. It is a program where your movies are added in the queue and keep track still of the movies. In the next, it will ask you for installing video player if the computer does not have one.

In Movie Capital for example, they have free registration and their deal is having the unlimited download membership. You will have an option of either renewing the membership in lower price or naturally terminate it. Once you are a member, they will give you access to their movies. Take note that it is important for finding criteria in the website that when you sign for their membership, their service will be easy to learn or user friendly in that sense.

YouTube movie download is legal. It was agreed by the films producers that they will continue it legally after getting the successful result of their experiment of pay per download that have been participated by the global audience. Take note about the basic steps for downloading. The steps are going directly to the setting as you download. Ask whether the format you will download will be applicable in the same way to your computer. Be aware also of the financial transactions because after all it will be your money that will be involved.

Truly, movie downloads is a better idea for entertainment. It is now preferable than theaters because in the same manner, you are still not losing the comfort of your home. It would be beneficial too if you will do it for free. But sill, your own decision is what matters most.

Small Town Brawl!

By L.J. James

It was a quite day in a small Bar in upstate New York . The girl working behind the bar was young, she had just turned Nineteen and had only been bar tending a few weeks, this was her first time working alone. Everything was going fine with only two of the regulars in the back shooting pool it was nothing she could not handle she thought to herself.

Then the front door opened and in walked ten of the biggest men she had ever seen. They talked loudly and as they walked over to the far side of the bar, She got a look at the back of their jackets. She could easily see that the markings on them where all the same. The men ordered pitchers of beer and their talking only got louder as they drank more and talked about things she did not understand. Then the men went quite as the front door opened and in walked seven more large men, at first she thought these seven men where with the first Ten as they looked and dressed similar but as she looked at the markings on the backs of these new comers Jackets she could tell while they where similar the markings where different, By the way the two groups where looking at each other she guessed the difference must mean a lot to them.

The Seven men sat up toward the front of the bar and also ordered pitchers of beer. The young girl did her best to make sure both groups where kept happy, but it was just a matter of time and Beer! When one of the men from the first group called out to her, "Hey Honey don't worry about those guys, there losers! Come over here and hang with some real men." That was all it took, the fuse was lit. "Who you calling losers pal we are good enough to beat you any day of the week!" Yelled back a guy from the second group. "You may think your as good as us but you never will be!" Yelled back a man from the first group.

Then in what was a blur to our young barmaid a fight broke out between the two groups it was loud and she could hear glass and wood breaking all around her as the men cursed and screamed at each other. This young Girl was scared and she feared for her life.

Her fear abated a little when in the distance she heard sirens. The police are coming, she thought to herself as she hid behind the bar. The police arrived in force and they stormed in arresting the men and taking them away. When things got quite and all the men where taken away the young girl looked around the small bar. So much damage she thought to herself, She looked at one of the officers and asked how did you know to come here. We got a call that these two groups where both heading to this bar and we just knew, it happens all the time with these type of guys!!!

Epilogue: The next morning when the young barmaid awoke she walked down stairs to the kitchen where her father was reading the morning paper. Does it say anything about the fight in the bar yesterday she asked her father? Yes he said as he pointed to a small article in the back of the paper "Yankees and Mets fans Brawl it out in small town bar" the story went on to explain how all the men where given tickets for disorderly conduct and released. That's it she screamed at her father these men trash the bar, scare the hell out of me, They should all be in jail and all they get is Tickets!!! Calm down sweetheart her father said as he hugged her, The way your acting one would think it had been a bunch of rowdy Bikers in the bar yesterday! Those Guys would have been locked away, But it was only Sports fans!

Future Book Betting Pitfalls And How To Avoid Them

By Ross Everett

Betting on sports 'futures' is an enjoyable and potentially profitable way to wager, but there are several potential risks that can lead to losses. Here's a rundown of things to avoid:

Search for the best price: A common mistake is to assume that the price on a specific futures wager position will be the same at every sportsbook. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, you'll often see a greater degree of difference between futures prices from book to book than any other form of bet. This is because that books aren't as worried about what price other outfits are offering as they are about keeping their own financial position balanced.

Don't fixate on picking the winner from a competitive field: This may sound like strange advice, but from a theoretical standpoint it makes perfect sense. As with every other element of sport wagering its crucial to always focus not on winners and losers, but on the value you're getting on individual bets. For example, in most years there are several teams with a realistic shot of winning at the start of the NCAA basketball tournament. The problem is that these top teams invariably offer low paybacks that are less than their 'true odds' of winning. Every team is subject to the same variables like injuries, slumps, bad matchups but backing teams that are 'under the radar' at higher prices offer more compensation for these 'risks'.

In more theoretical terms, the 'true odds' of a Duke or similar top team winning the tournament are almost always higher than the price offered. Think of it this way--say we're betting Duke to win the national title at 2/1. This means that the Blue Devils would have to win more than 33% of the time to break even. So lets say, for the sake of argument, that we could play the tournament over 100 times. Would Duke come out on top more than 33 of these times? If not, they represent a poor value. Let's say that they win 30 of 100 times. This means that any price under +333 or thereabouts is a poor wagering value.

Note that the more competitive the market, the more difficult it is to find good value on the favorites. Since you can make a case for quite a few teams to win the NCAA tournament at this point this particular futures market is clearly a very competitive one. In a less competitive marketplace it might be possible to "pick the winner" and have it be a good value though you will pay a price for this. Here's a (thankfully) hypothetical example: let's say the UFC decided to hold a one night round robin tournament with 5 competitors. Competitor #1 would be heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. The other four competitors would be professional figure skaters Elvis Stojko, Rudy Gallindo, Brian Boitano and Evgeni Plushinko. Even if he didn't bring his "A game", Lesnar would be essentially have a 100% certainty of beating the four untrained fighters, who also happen to be rather effeminate. If a sportsbook installed Lesnar as a -1000 favorite a bet on the 63 265 pound takedown would still be theoretically a good value. It's always difficult to risk so much to win a little, but from a strictly theoretical standpoint its a good play.

Don't go for the big killing: Sports wagering is not a good arena in which to make a 'big killing'. It may happen from time to time, but it is extremely rare. A perennial doormat can come out of nowhere to win a championship at a big price, but the fact that it happens from time to time doesn't make it a good value. If you're a recreational player and want to throw a few dollars at a big long shot, no real harm. If you aspire to any degree of seriousness as a sports better, however, you need to maintain your discipline and commitment to value at all times. If you want to hit a big jackpot play the lottery or the slot machines, but don't try to do it in a sports betting paradigm.

Wagering value is just as important at the bottom of the barrel as it is at the top. Just because you're getting a huge potential payback on a big dog doesn't make it a good value. Make sure that the payback you're getting presents an overlay situation--even on a huge underdog.

Don't bet one-sided futures or propositions: Though many of these are not futures per se, a lot of sportsbooks offer silly propositions on nonsport events as a way to get publicity, or just to be funny. Its important to make a distinction between this type of silly bet and more realistic nonsport propositions which frequently present good wagering value. Im talking the really outlandish stuff here. Not too long ago, a sportsbook posted a line on Martians landing on earth and painting the White House red by the end of the year. The "YES" was +2500 or thereabouts, which is far from reflective of the "true odds" of this unlikely event. Even if you're the type that collects classic Art Bell shows on tape and believes in UFOs you wouldn't place the probability of this happening at more than a fraction of a percent. The book only offered the "YES" side of the proposition, meaning that you couldn't lay even a huge price on the more likely outcome. Another book had a futures offering for what would happen first with Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis. All of the options were very unlikely--Ashton and Bruce fighting on PPV and my favorite--and the longest odds--Ashton, Bruce and Demi hopping in bed together and releasing a porno video documenting the event. You'd receive a sizable payback if any of the events ever transpired, but I'm not exactly sure how to compute the "true odds" on "when pigs fly.

Bengals Blast Struggling Bears

By Ross Everett

Former Chicago Bears running back Cedric Benson got revenge on the team that let him go in the best possible way. Benson amassed 189 yards rushing and led his new team, the Cincinnati Bengals, to a 45-10 rout over the visiting Bears on Sunday. Carson Palmer threw for five touchdowns with no interceptions in the blowout victory.

The Bengals also made short work of the NFL pointspread, easily covering as +1' home underdogs. Cincinnati improved to 4-3 against the number while Chicago evened their ATS mark at 3-3.

A smug Benson described his feelings after the win:

"Everybody knew it was going to be an emotional day. Everybody knew. What a wonderful day and a wonderful thing, to go out there and strut your stuff."

Despite the evidence to the contrary, Benson downplayed the motive of revenge:

"I continue to be as graceful as I can be. I'm not shoving anything in anybody's face. Like I say, it wasn't a revenge day for me. I just wanted to take advantage of the opportunities."

He said his biggest problem was trying to keep his emotions in check and play under control:

"There were a few times where I may have gotten a little too hyped up, a little too antsy. A couple of drives, I found myself having to calm myself down and gather my emotions to stay poised. Once I got past that, we were good to go. Keep it rolling."

Bengals' receiver Chad Ochocinco had 10 catches for 118 yards and two touchdowns. He shared his thoughts postgame:

"I don't understand why it went this way today and why it didn't go that way last week or the week before that. The offensive line played unbelievable. For Ced to run the way he did today and for us to be able to throw, we could have done what we wanted to do."

Chicago gave up more points than in any game all season, a fact that left defensive end Alex Brown looking for answers:

"That was pretty embarrassing. It's embarrassing to come out and play like that. I tip my hat to their whole team. Cedric ran the ball like crazy. They did whatever they wanted to do."

The Bengals will enjoy a bye week before hosting the Baltimore Ravens on November 8. They'll then play two games on the road at Pittsburgh and Oakland. Chicago will try to get back on track this Sunday as they host the Cleveland Browns. The Bears are -13' home favorites with the total set at 40.

The Importance Of Regular Gutter Cleaning Set Out Detailed

By Nathan William Holding

The last thing we want this rainy season is to replace ceilings and roof tiles. We can of course stop this from happening if we understand the importance of regular gutter cleaning. It is a necessary part in our home maintenance routine and should never to missed.

How our ancestors coped with down pours is only a guess. They must have had large over hanging roofs which will allow the water to cascade on the ground. But getting in and out of the house must have been a real trick. Today, the modern architects will also design homes without gutters, but they will always have a way to route rain water so that it does not look unsightly or cause lots of damage.

But the standard for homes today is still guttering, and it makes good sense. When we have strong down pours, the water will automatically rush down the roof, into the gutter and along the downpipes leading the water away from the house. A standard home usually is fitted with downpipes on each corner of the house. Today they are made of durable plastic and is usually white in color.

Most people like to catch rain water and will have their downpipes fitted onto catchment tanks, allowing all the water to collect and be used for gardening and when the dry season comes.

It is therefore imperative to have your gutters unclogged. Damage can be great and costly in that water tends to dam up like flooding your plants along your home or worse seeping down into the basement.

Roof tiles are so expensive to replace nowadays and you would have to pay someone to do it for you. Ceiling boards are a hassle to replace, as you would now have to buy paint to match the whole ceiling. What's even worse is that in a heavy down pour you stand the chance of your gutters not working probably due to clogging, and then it burst through the ceilings onto your furniture.

Rather get your gutters cleaned out by professionals or do it yourself. It will only help you save money in the long run. Get your gutters seen to at least once a year as dirt, twigs, leaves and feathers tend to block your gutters after each heavy down pour.

Once you notice that rain water is gushing down all around your home, then it is time to get in a gutter cleaner they know about the importance of regular gutter cleaning and can save you thousands. Make it part of your yearly home maintenance routine.

The Dominator Of Darlington: David Pearson

By Ross Everett

South Carolina's Darlington Raceway is an egg shaped terror that has become known as the track too tough to tame. If thats true, David Pearson came pretty close--during his illustrious career, he posted 10 victories and 12 poles at Darlington. These are both records for one of NASCAR's most unforgiving tracks. Pearson's ability at Darlington bordered on the unreal, and he was able to follow the conventional wisdom about performing well there better than anyone. The old saying is that you need to race the track, not the other drivers, but that's a lot easier said than done. Pearson, however, made it look easy.

David Pearson was born on December 22, 1934 in Whitney, SC--a textile town near Spartanburg. Like most of the locals, his parents worked in the local cotton mill and did their best to provide. David quit school after the 10th grade and went to work in the mill. It wasnt long, however, before his love of cars and racing made him leave the mill life behind. He bought a car and began racing at short tracks in the upstate. He ran his first race on 9/19/52 in Woodruff South Carolina. Within a few years, he won his first championship at the Greenville/Pickens Speedway in'59.

Pearson never really sought much more than this local fame and success, but a couple of his friends and some fans had loftier ambitions"they began raising money to buy a car to compete in the NASCAR Grand National series (which was the forerunner to today's Sprint Cup series). With the financial backing from friends and family, David began racing a limited schedule on the Grand National circuit and was named the'60 rookie of the year. In'61, he became the first driver to win on 3 of 4 superspeedways in the same year (Charlotte, Daytona, Atlanta). Success beget sponsors, whos dollars allowed him to afford better cars and crew. This brought about championships"he won three Grand National titles in'66,'68 and'69.

During the 70's, Pearson specialized in superspeedway racing. Through the end of the'70s, Pearson won 43 races. In addition to his mastery of Darlington, he posted remarkable numbers all over the circuit. He is one of two men to have won more than 100 races, and his 105 is second only to The King Richard Petty's 200 wins. Hes also second on career poles (113) to Petty. Head to head, however, he has a slight edge over NASCARs legendary King: in races where he and Petty finished 1-2, Pearson won 33 to Petty's 30. His 11 consecutive poles at Charlotte is a feat that will likely never be matched. Another record that may never be broken is his'.29% winning percentage, as well as his record of starting from the pole in 20% of the races he ran.

In March, 2000, SC Highway 221 through Spartanburg County was renamed David Pearson Boulevard in his honor. He lives in Spartanburg to this day. Pearson still takes to the track occasionally--he and current NASCAR driver Carl Edwards were the first to race on the newly repaved Darlington Raceway last Spring. And he's still known as 'The Silver Fox', a nickname given to him for his prematurely gray hair.

What Is The Best Way To Book A Band?

By Dannii Symes

So, you are having a party. Planning can be tough, but one area that can make it easier is whether to hire a Disc Jockey or to book a band. While pretty much everything else you do has many choices, this area only has 2 options. Do you want live music or listen to recordings that you and all of your guests hear all day, every day? There are benefits to each choice, but live music is ultimately the better option.

Many folks have opted to use a DJ, simply because it is easier. They show up with their equipment, have several hundred songs to play, usually in a variety of genres and unless they are brand new, they are usually fine for most occasions. The biggest challenge with this choice is that your DJ is limited to only the music he/she brings with them. Many times, with a diverse aged group of people, they will not have songs that your guests may wish to hear.

Using someone who spins records, requires that your venue has a high quality sound system. They seldom travel with their own and even if they do, it is generally not designed for a large facility. Considering that this is the sound of your party, the quality of their sounds are crucial. With live music, this is not a consideration. A band will arrive with instruments and sound system in tow, so you get professional sounds after a few sound checks.

The theme of your party has usually been fairly thought out. Your DJ may or may not have music to accommodate this choice. Most of the time, they have several hundred commonly played songs to make it through the day. Depending on the type of music you wish played, there are always live musicians who will accommodate your wishes.

In many situations, a DJ is a frustrated entertainer. They actually wish they were in a band! Your party may offer them the option of performing, but seldom will you find the next American Idol portraying themselves as a record spinner!! Having live music with a professional lead singer and quality back ups, will present a true compliment to your party.

Finding groups that suit your needs may be a little tougher, but in the long run, their presence will have a bigger impact on the party than anyone else. There are agents that will direct you to venues where local talent is playing. You get to see them in action to determine their sound, how they interact with the customers and their personalities. A DJ is really at a location to do nothing more than spin records, although now it is more of anything but records, and is not really there as entertainment.

Of course, the cost of hiring live entertainers will be higher than a DJ, but your overall results will be more satisfactory. The leader of the band can be a greater help as a Master of Ceremonies and will allow for more interaction with your guests. As long as you are not hiring a full orchestra, the costs will not be prohibitive.

If you book a band, the party will have an entirely different flavor. Perhaps the next winner of American Idol will be tearing up every song. The lead guitar may be the next Eric Clapton and the drummer may be as entertaining as Ringo Starr. This is the personality of your party, so make your choice wisely and everyone will have a great time, while you dance the night away knowing that you made the best choice!!

Thinking of going Skiing this Winter?

By Suzanne Noctor

Are you thinking of going skiing this winter then it is important that you make sure that you have the right equipment. Along with the appropriate clothing you need to make sure that you get yourself a good pair of ski boots. But what you may find difficult because there are so many different types of boots to choose from is knowing which ones are going to be best for you.

Therefore before you invest what is going to be quite a bit of money in your ski boots it is a good idea to spend some time learning a little more about them. In this article we take a look at just some of these things and which will help you to determine which of them is going to be the best pair for you.

As we stated above the boots one wears when skiing come in several different styles and categorized by the way they are worn, and which we now take a look at below.

1. Rear Entry - These are the style that are perfect for someone who is only just learning to ski. These are the simplest ones to put on and take off and the buckles to tighten them around your leg are at the rear. These boots are the least expensive to buy and make the perfect choice if you won't be skiing on a regular basis. Also it is worth considering if trying skiing for the first time to rent a pair for your trip rather than buying.

2. Front Entry Boots - These particular ski boots offer the wearer more control over their skiing when worn because they allow the wearer to be more precise in their movements. Also referred to overlap boots a great many skiers opt for these type as they help to improve their skiing performance and allow them to be more versatile when skiing. Instead of buckling up at the rear these ski boots as the name suggest have four buckles to do them up at the front.

3. Mid Entry - These are the boots that offer you the benefits of the ones we have discussed previously. Not only can they easily be put on and taken off as they have buckles at the back. They are much quicker to put on because unlike the other styles they come with just 2 rather than 4 buckles as on the front entry kind. Again these allow you more versatility in your skiing movements so ensuring that your skiing can be improved.

For anyone who does intend to do a lot of skiing then they should be considering spending money on a pair of the front or mid entry ski boots. Along with helping to ensure that they can move more easily when skiing they can help them improve what they already know. But it is a good idea before investing money in this crucial piece of skiing equipment one tries out several pairs first to determine which feel most comfortable when being worn.

Why You Might Watch The Movie Alien

By Sharron Kramer

By taking a look at this particular piece, I can venture a guess that you are looking to learn a little more about the film "Alien" in many different capacities. Through the course of the upcoming paragraphs, you will be introduced to the film through a plot synopsis, a breakdown of the actors and actresses that made the film possible, and why this movie revolutionized sci-fi horror films.

For starters, there were always creepy sci-fi movies about aliens for many years before this film came out. So the concept, though unique in the way that it was written into the plot, was not something that the audience had never seen before. There were considerable differences between the creatures that were featured in this film against the beings that came before it.

One of the first and most noteworthy differences between the predecessors and the new revamped ones, would be that these creatures were not just slow moving awkward beings. Rather, they were highly intelligent, terrifying to look at, and even deadlier to be around than anything that might have hit the screen before it.

They were creatures that instilled fear and terror into the audiences that got to see them. They walked on all fours like the most deadly predators on Earth do, and they learned rather easily that humans were a rather simple kill. They had a couple of rows of razor sharp teeth and heavily salivated a substance that was able to eat through the floor of the space ship that the crew that came to the planet called home.

The humans of the film are part of a mining expedition out in space when they hear a distress signal coming from a planet that they are passing by. So they unload their tow and leave it in orbit while they head to the planet to see if they can help. It doesn't take them long to learn that this was no distress signal at all, and they are most certainly not alone on the planet. Dallas and Kane, two crew members head out and encounter the creatures first when one attaches to Kane's face and won't release.

But unbeknown to them at first, the crew later learns that they were meant to land on the planet and retrieve one of these creatures, whether they themselves actually made it back to Earth alive or not. They try many different ways to escape, and many of the crew is killed in the chaos. Ripley manages to escape on a shuttle after hitting the self destruct button on the ship, but not without an alien clinging to the outside portion of her craft trying to get in. When the creature attempts to enter through the thruster vents, she fires them on which kills the creature and she is able to make the trip back to Earth.

This movie would not be nearly as good if it weren't for the incredible acting involved. Performances from Sigourney Weaver (Ripley), Tom Skerritt (Dallas) and John Hurt (Kane) really made this movie remarkable.

There is a good bit to know about the movie "Alien", but this should give you a proper introduction to the film. While this movie is quite a classic, you might want to check it out as well as the several sequels to the film that followed after (most of which feature Sigourney Weaver in returning roles as Ripley).

The Answer To Having Your First Underwater Snap shots

By Donny Donatelli

We've happened to be going to the beach at least once just about every year and I have not ever noticed that my pals and I do not have a single picture in the water at all. I don't have any pictures of me swimming. It is just at the hotel by the beach, the bar at the beach or on the sand. No swimming pictures. I have also been wondering why my pals and I have by no means thought of taking pix of any of us in the water. And then it just struck me like that. I think I know why all these years, we do not have one.

We are all scared that our cameras might get wet when the waves splashes on our cameras. I thought I have invested in the right digital camera, having 10 megapixels and all that fancy stuff that a gadget geek would want. But then we failed to consider the fact that we go to the beach regularly and we need a camera that won't get ruined in the water. A waterproof camera will definitely do the trick. The problem is it's that time of the year again when my friends and I go to the beach. Actually, we've already planned everything out. We will be leaving 2 weeks from now and almost everything has been taken care of except the waterproof camera. Nobody had thought of it until now that I have brought up the issue.

It is effortless to get a waterproof camera these days since they are usually all readily available at the mall. Nonetheless, if we do that, we will not have enough cash to expend at the beach since we all know how high-priced waterproof cameras cost. A number excellent people will range anywhere between $250 to as much as $500 each. We can certainly get just one for $150 but I'm really not that self-assured when it comes to the quality due to the fact it's so light-weight and seems similar to a disposable camera to me. I wouldn't want to waste your money in a disposable camera that we could only use after when we go to the beach regularly.

The first thing I did was to seem for second-hand or pre-owned waterproof digital cameras on the World Wide Web. I stumbled upon a number of but they were sellers from another country so the shipping will probably cost me over the particular cost of the stuff itself. I saw another but it had a number defects that the owner did not really bother to discuss in full detail and that really scare me. His waterproof camera was on sale for only $80 but his ad says that it has a lot of minor defects. I do not think I want to have my camera malfunction while we are having fun at the beach because that hopefully will damage everything.

Just as I was relating to offer up on my pathetic quest for the majority of affordable pre-owned waterproof camera, I stumbled upon an item that was not really that well-known. I have heard of it before but I never have seen just one yet until now. It was a waterproof case for digital cameras, mp3 players or any electronic gadget that fits into it. It had transparent thick plastic surface which makes it really ideal for digital cameras simply because you will not have virtually any difficulties with the pix blurring out since of the plastic that covers the camera lens. The very good new is, the seller was selling the waterproof camera case for only $5 and he was just placed in the same area that I am at. I quickly contacted the seller and scheduled a meet up with him at the local mall where it would be more comfortable for the two of us.

I really didn't have any problems with the seller being tardy. He even gave me a dollar discount so I only paid $4 for the waterproof camera case. Now, we will likely be having underwater images more than just snap shots in the water. I just can't wait to hit the beach now.

2008 SEC Championship: Gators Top Tide

By Ross Everett

The Florida Gators would go on to win the NCAA Football Championship, but it was a 31-20 victory over #1 ranked Alabama in the SEC championship game that got them there. The Gators scored-- 4th quarter points to secure victory in a contest that was an epic struggle for three quarters with five lead changes and two ties.

The Gators scored first, taking a 7-0 lead on a three yard Tim Tebow TD pass to Carl Moore. The Crimson Tide quickly answered, tying the score on an eighteen yard run by Glen Coffee and taking their first lead of the game at 10-7 several minutes later on a 30 yard FG by Leigh Tiffin. Florida came right back in the second quarter, tying the game on a Jonathan Phillips' yard FG and taking a 17-10 lead into the halftime break on another Tebow TD pass, this one to David Nelson from five yards out. Alabama regained control in the third quarter, tying the score on a 2 yard Mark Ingram touchdown run and then regaining the lead at 20-17 in the final seconds of the period on another Tiffin field goal. Florida put them away for good in the fourth, however, on a 1 yard Jeffrey Demps TD run followed by Tebows third touchdown strike of the day.

As was the case more often than not during Floridas run to the BCS title game, Tim Tebow was the big star for the Gators. The junior QB had 216 yards passing with 3 TDs and no interceptions plus fifty seven yards on the ground. Florida head coach Urban Meyer wasnt hesitant about praising Tebow effusively in his post game comments:

"I've had some great players, and I've got some great players on this team. But I've never had one like this. Tim's got something special inside him. I'm not talking about throwing. I'm not talking about running. I'm talking about making everyone around him better. That fourth quarter was vintage Tim Tebow.

Alabama coach Nick Saban wasnt about to argue with him:

"He's a great competitor. He takes his teammates on his shoulders a lot. They have a lot of confidence he's going to make plays, and they play that way. They scored two touchdowns where we had them covered about as well as we could cover them."

The conventional wisdom is that the Gators are a speed and finesse team, but according to cornerback Joe Haden the world has underestimated their toughness:

"Our team is a tough team. The only reason they look past our toughness is our speed. They said we were a speed team and they were a tough team. We're just as tough. We can still be pretty and fast and tough at the same time."

Even in defeat, it was impossible to overlook the remarkable resurgance of Alabama football. The team was only two years removed from a 6-7 record in their last year under Mike Shula. In only two years at the helm, Nick Saban has amassed a'-7 record at Alabama with no signs of slowing down.

Best Vertical Jump Program - 3 Mistakes To Avoid When Choosing

By Mat Hultquist

Picking the best vertical jump program can be a hassle because there are so many to choose from. In my search for a program to increase my vertical leap, I found there are 3 mistakes you want to avoid:

1. Coaching charges - be wary of coaching fees when deciding on the best vertical jump program. The coaching itself is not the issue. The fees they charge and the manner in which it is disclosed can be.

As an example, some of the vertical jump programs will charge between $10-$20 per month for coaching, while others will charge in excess of $150 per month. And you may not even be aware of the fact that you are even signing up for coaching - the fees are buried somewhere in the fine print.

2. The author - one thing most people don't think about is the author of the jump program they are interested in. First and foremost, find out their background and experience - do they know what they are talking about? Have the trained others, including world-class athletes? Are they registered with the Better Business Bureau?

You'd be surprised to learn that several of the products that claim to be the best vertical jump program were actually authored by a marketing company! To me that signals that they are not qualified and are out to make a quick buck.

3. Customization - one area of concern for me when I was choosing the best vertical jump program was if it would be custom to my current jumping abilities and my body type. I soon found out that most of them are designed as a one size fits all type of program. I can understand this approach, as they are trying to appeal to a broad market.

Nonetheless, it didn't quite sit well with me that the same training program would apply to everyone? I mean, is the training for a 5'5" individual the same as the training for a 6'5" individual?

In your search, keep in mind that there is an alternative to this one size fits all approach. There are actually some vertical jump programs that are software based that design a training program specific to your abilities and goals. The best part is that these software-based programs generally do not cost any more than the one size fits all products.

As with anything, figure out what you really want to accomplish before you commit to buying what you think might be the best vertical jump program. And research the various products with the above items in mind and you can't go wrong.

NY Jets Rip Hapless Raiders

By Ross Everett

The New York Jets and rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez found a sure fire cure to their recent struggles-a game against the lowly Oakland Raiders. Sanchez passed for--3 yards and a touchdown, plus added a rushing touchdown as New York thumped Oakland 38-0 in the largest regular season shutout win in franchise history. The Jets improved their record to 4-3 while the Raiders dropped to 2-5.

NFL football betting enthusiasts who took the Jets as -6 road favorites had smooth sailing throughout the game for an easy pointspread cover. The Jets improved to 4-3 against the spread while the Raiders fell to 3-5 against the number. The 38 points scored went OVER the posted total of 34. Both teams have gone UNDER in four of seven games this season. Oakland failed to score a touchdown for the 15th game in the past four seasons.

It was such an effortless game that the only thing that Sanchez had to apologize for was surreptitiously eating a hot dog near the end of the contest:

"I want to apologize for that. I wasn't feeling very good and didn't eat much before the game, so I was feeling a little queasy. Toward the end of the game, I probably should have eaten one of those bars or something, but someone offered a hot dog, so I grabbed it and tried to be discreet about it, but obviously not discreet enough. So I shouldn't have done that, and it won't happen again."

The Jets capitalized on three early Raiders' turnovers and started two of their first three drives inside the five yardline. Sanchez praised the defense for making his job easy:

"It makes it so easy on the offense when your defense is playing like that. Hats off to them, they had a heck of a game to shut that team out. I don't care who we're playing, that's a big-time accomplishment for our team."

Jets' coach Rex Ryan was very pleased with Sanchez's performance:

"Sanchez was great. He was just smart with the football. I think sometimes he could have put the ball on a receiver, but he was making sure the ball wasn't intercepted. It was great to see him respond."

Raiders' defensive lineman Richard Seymour, who boldly predicted the team would make the playoffs despite their slow start, was singing a different tune after the rout:

"I don't think we could have beaten an Oakland high school team today."

Despite Russell's struggles, Oakland coach Tom Cable remains committed to him as the team's starter:

"I thought he was really out of sorts early in the game. I just did not feel like at that point he gave us the best chance to have the success we needed to have offensively and made the move. JaMarcus will continue to be our starter. There is no issue there."

The Raiders will try to bounce back this weekend in a big rivalry game on the road against the San Diego Chargers. Oakland is +16' road underdogs with the total set at 42'. They'll then enjoy a bye week before back to back home games against the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals. The Jets host Miami this Sunday, with New York a -3' home favorite and the total set at 40'.

How To Avoid Sore Backs On The Golf Course

By Terry Lane

Want to lower your golf score? Looking for that competitive edge among your friends? What you need to know to avoid injury on the golf course starts with proper golf preparation off the course. And it's called exercise. Don't believe me? Take a look at the younger generation of golfers now on the circuit. The majority of them don't possess a fat belly. These golfers are not your dad's generation of professional golfers. So if you are serious about your golf game than you need to be serious about golf and exercise.

If a casual golfer thinks that all you have to do is tee it up high, rear back and swing with his big head driver, then he is going to be in trouble. Without proper warm up or properly preparing the muscles in the lower back that golfer is looking at a sore back. And if he thinks all he has to worry about are sand traps and water hazards he should think again. His back may not be sore that day but wait till the next day. He can benefit from light stretching otherwise his golf swing may not have full extension.

If this sounds like you, what you might have to do is make a conscious effort in gaining strength in your core muscles and getting your lower body stronger. To do this you are going to need some help. It's called Golf Preparation and Exercises For Your Golf Game. Of course you may not be able to afford the expensive physical trainers that work the pro circuit, but if you seek the help of a certified personal trainer in your town, you should be in good hands. Working off the golf course during the week will bring more enjoyment to your golf game on weekends. Working on specific exercises to get you in golf shape may not lower your golf handicap but it will help you avoid injury.

The golf swing goes through a series of positions. That is why it is important to include rotation, extension and forward flexion. And make sure you warm up before teeing up. If you prepared yourself properly at home then playing a round of golf becomes more enjoyable because you should experience less pain in the lower back. A great weight training tool is the kettlebell. Used by Russian strongmen this piece of fitness equipment is now popular here at home. Don't start with a heavy weight at first. You can always move up in weight as you become stronger. To use the kettlebell, begin by slightly bending your knees. Then slowly swing the kettlebell left and right for an easy rotation of the spine. And also make sure while doing this to keep your abdominals engaged.

Another great piece of fitness equipment for the golfer and affordable too is the resistance band. Bands come in various resistance levels. Start off with one low in resistance at first and do more reps. Once you become comfortable you can move to a heavier resistance. Again find some exercises online. Resistance bands are very popular and you can find them once again online at a fitness store. The beauty about these bands is you can go from one exercise to the next in a fluid motion. Much easier than with a heavy weight.

For core strength a BOSU or a balance pad is a great way to gain stability. A golfer knows that a golf swing is all about proper balance. So what better way to improve on it then with a specific exercise product that was developed to do just that. Balance boards are another piece of fitness equipment that helps develop balance and coordination. It may need a bit getting used to, so at first you may need to hold onto something secure before going solo on a board. Not sure what these boards can do? Just take a look at snowboarders or skateboarders. Balance board training is becoming more popular with non-athletes. With time spent on these balance boards you will develop better coordination and stronger lower body muscles and as a direct result, improve your golf game with a stronger, and more balanced, swing.

The True Story Of The Ali/Inoki Fight

By Ross Everett

While mixed martial arts fighting has only recently become popular in the United States, contests between fighters of different martial arts disciplines have taken place in Japan for many years. They weren't called "mixed martial arts" until recently, but they were definitely an embryonic form of the now booming sport. Many of the most famous events of this type took place in Japan during the'70's involving pro wrestling legend Antonio Inoki.

Before and after his matchup against Muhammad Ali, Inoki would frequently compete against other martial artists in what are widely accepted to be "worked" (ie: having a predetermined outcome) matches. Inoki fought boxer Chuck Wepner, judo Gold Medalist Wilhelm Ruska and world karate champion Willie Williams among others. His most famous match internationally, however, was against Ali.

There are differing accounts of how the best heavyweight boxer in history found himself in a ring in Tokyo's Budokan Arena against a pro wrestler. One thing is certain--it was viewed as an easy payday for Ali, who'd lost a good chunk of his prime earning years to his controversial stance over the Vietnam war. That's what got him there in the first place, and that's what kept him there after the two sides began squabbling over the rules and the outcome of the fight. Some suggest that it was supposed to be a "fair fight" going in and once Ali saw Inoki spar he insisted on rules changes to tilt the fight in his favor. Another more likely version of the story suggests that Ali's handlers knew that the fight was supposed to be a "work" all along. They made the deal with Inoki's people based on this fact, and were all on board as to the outcome of the match and how it would "finish". The "original" plan was to have Inoki win in a controversial manner that would keep his undefeated streak in "MMA" matches intact while allowing Ali to "save face. The only person who wasn't aware of the game plan, however, was Ali himself. When informed that he was supposed to "take a dive", even in a convoluted fashion, Ali refused. No agreement was reached between the two camps and at the last minute a legit fight transpired. The promoters were left with a sold out Budokan, a worldwide PPV audience and two fighters who despite every effort to the contrary would actually have to fight each other.

The rules that were in place on fight night were so ridiculously one sided in favor of Ali that it almost defies belief. Inoki wasn't allowed to hit Ali with a closed fist, nor strike him in the head at all. He was also prohibited from using any sort of choke or submission maneuver. Most problematically, he was prohibited from trying to take Ali to the ground. In other words, Inoki was basically not permitted to do anything that would threaten Ali with any sort of physical harm.

The painfully boring event that ensued was, despite many suggestions to the contrary, an actual fight. Inoki spent most of the match on the ground, unsuccessfully imploring Ali to join him and throwing kicks at his opponent's legs. Ali did even less throughout the match, throwing a few jabs and trying to protect his knees and legs. The fight was scored on a 5 point system, and ended up in a 74-74 draw. It's worth noting that Inoki had three points deducted for very dubious infractions: the first for throwing (and missing) with a drop kick, the second for throwing an elbow to Ali's head and the third for a swift kick to Ali's ribs. Had these deductions not occurred, Inoki would have won by decision. From a strict standpoint of scoring boxing, he probably deserved to win since he at least tried to execute a fight plan despite the restrictions he faced. For all practical purposes, however, a draw was the proper outcome. Both guys got paid and no one won, least of all the fans.

Some interesting trivia about the fight--the referee was former pro wrestler "Judo" Gene Labell, who is considered by many 'the baddest man on the planet' even in his 80's. He could have very likely beaten up both men at the same time--a spectacle that might have been welcomed by the live crowd and closed circuit audience worldwide.

After the fight, Inoki's popularity in Japan was greater than ever. He became something of a hero for trying to fight despite having the rules so decidedly in his opponent's favor. He'd continue his fights against other martial artists and remain one of the country's most popular sports figures for years to come. His 'worked' martial arts matches can be credited with sparking later hybrid promotions showcasing pro wrestling and martial arts that evolved into PRIDE, RINGS and the major Japanese fight promotions of today.

By Mildred Smith

Customer Service. Great customer service is always the best! You could throw the most costly spa treatment, but when the client isn't contented with her spa experience, it's tantamount to nothing. "In fact, 87 percent of ISPA member spas are utilising customer feedback mechanisms to ensure they're exceeding consumers' desires..." Spas should adopt better ways then to hand the clients a more satisfying spa experience.

Spa Sampling Menus. This is a great means to let spa clients get a form of "preview" of the various treatments thatthey are planning to try on.

Spa Partnerships. This allows spas to broaden their reach by building partnerships with local businesses that may also benefit from them. By doing so, spas are able to promote their business and grow the number of clients by taking the spa nearer to the clients. Several strategies can be carried out like discounted prices with partner hotels or resorts. And who doesn't enjoy a bargain?

Social Media. From tweeting to blogging, and everything in between, it's predicted that in 2010 social media will remain powerful in assisting spa-goers create decision from what to where of spa. Needless to say, spas should take advantage of social media to gather clients.

Beauty Rest. Not yet very common, but an inviting choice like this can certainly grow the number of spa visits. This merely signifies having that extra time at the spa to catch some forty winks while savoring a relaxing massage. Or quite more attractive is to just book a room in a spa heavy with calming aroma to get more sleep.

These are just few of the exciting trends that the spa industry is eyeballing for 2010. Now, there are a plenty of better things to look forward to for your 2010 spa visits.

As the kicker you have 2 clicks. One to set the side you want to send the ball to the other determines how high the ball will go in relation to the goal.

Depending on the time the second click of the mouse is held during the penalty kick it will determine the height of which the ball is to enter the goal or pass over or to the side. The same action is applied to the position of the goalie. When the first click is pressed, on the mouse however the goalie will jump to that position that the mouse clicked on on the screen. Playing Penalty Fever Arcade Game is a matter of trial and error and deciding when and where to move very similar to the real game.

Ipl Tickets Rage

By Ishaan Rao

Do you love cricket? Is it a second religion for you? Do you enjoy watching cricket and do not leave any chance of going to stadium to watch your favourite stars in action? If this is the case with you too, you would definitely understand my pain and sorrow.

I am a cricket lover who has always followed all sorts of matches, irrelevant of the teams or formats. I can even watch the retransmission of matches that were played played a decade back between some minnows.

My excitement was uncontrollable when I figured out that my office was closed on the day of the finals of IPL 2010. Thus started my journey for getting tickets for the finals which in start seemed very rosy, but turned out to be one full of thorns as time passed.

I specially took a day off from my office citing stomach infection as the reason. I wanted to devote the day for purchasing the tickets and for celebrating after that. My boss, who knew about my love for cricket doubted me when I said I was down with stomach infection. His cross questioning was worse than the one done by FBI or CTU. It was not a big deal for someone like me who has a habit of lying and bluffing. He got convinced and granted me leave. In fact he send me a get well soon text too which convinced me that I indeed am a good bluffer.

My hunt for ticket started with calling some friends who like me were cricket fanatics. Though everyone denied having tickets with them, am sure a few of them were lying. As I was determined to go to the stadium I started my journey to its booking office. What welcomed me there was a long queue, probably longer than any I had ever seen in my life. It was longer than queue for tickets of a blockbuster movie and longer than that for the ration lines. It seemed entire Mumbai was out there to get tickets.

After two hours of standing in the queue it seemed it moved just millimeter ahead. Soon came the news which I was dreading. There was an official announcement that said all the tickets had sold out. There were girls who started crying and guys who were angrier than a Spanish bull. These emotions were of no use as the officials didn't get influenced by it.

After a lot of begging they told there were a few left in the second stadium which was at the other end of the city. Within seconds that place was deserted as all of us ran to get those tickets. Struggling for four hours in Mumbai traffic is nothing less than an accomplishment. After achieving this accomplishment when I reached the other stadium I realized that it was totally empty, this meant there were no tickets.

A couple of days back I found out that there are many corporates which have bought these tickets and are using contests and other marketing gimmicks to give away these tickets as prizes. I hunted for these corporate and tried finding out what the contests were.

Out of the few I searched about I found the one which was started by GoJiyo as the most exciting one. This new online gaming portal has asked the users to make profiles and invite friends. The one whose invites would result in maximum profiles would win. I have send invites to many.
