Running The Kinetic Half Is Something The Unprepared Should Not Trifle With

By Lena Stephenson

Running is not only a great way to lose those few extra pounds but also a great way to keep fit and too meet new likeminded people. Many set out to just enjoy the fresh air and land up entering into competitions. One such event is the Kinetic Half Marathon and takes place each year.

This year it will be on Saturday the 9th May 2015 at Lake Anna State Park in Spotsylvania Virginia. The length of the event will be seventy point three miles broken up into different categories. It consists of one loop of swimming then one loop of cycling. The next will be three loops of running.

Before starting each session always do a few simple warm up and stretch exercises as these can prevent injuries. There are three major injuries that a beginner can get and the first in Plantar Fasciitis. This is a band of tissue that connects ones toes to the heel bone and tiny tears in the ligaments can happen which can lead to swelling and are usually painful.

Do not start running for long periods of time and try to keep on soft surfaces. Buy shoes that help to support the arch of the foot as it will be beneficial. If one finds that the feet are becoming sore roll the foot over a frozen water bottle and gently message for a few minutes.

This venue has a beach which is very popular and has a fishing pond where children can watch the fish. It is easy accessible for the disabled and has a launch for boats. It is a popular place for camping and picnicking and the cabins can accommodate six to ten people. Most of them have a view of the lake.

When everyone had crossed the finish line many of the competitors decided to go for a celebratory supper of pizza. Everyone was in a great mood considering many had spent the day working. Many of the names that completed this event went on to become familiar in the triathletes of today.

This property was known as the Gold Hill before becoming a state park in nineteen seventy two. Work then began and in nineteen eight three the park opened its gates to the public. Visiting this park one can be transported back in time and participate in looking for gold nuggets and flakes.

The process of finding some gold is to fill the pan with gravel and sand and remove any stones that are larger than marble size. Place the pan under some water and start to mix the contents by hand. Rotate the pan allowing the heavy particles to sit on the bottom. Gently tip the pan into a slow flowing current allowing the lighter particles to be washed away, this will leave black sand behind. This can hold pieces of garnet, magnetite, ilimenite and sometimes even gold.
