How Online CPR Classes Allows You Save Lives

By Leslie Ball

A circulatory arrest will deprive tissues of the body of oxygen and nutrients meaning that they will begin dying. But a resuscitation procedure will provide artificial beating of heart ensuring that the body continues to receive blood supply to maintain the tissue alive especially the brain, which coordinates many of the functions and systems in body. Taking online CPR classes is a step everyone needs to consider because it allows one to save a life or even get employment.

However, the number of people who possess the skill to conduct a resuscitation procedure is not very impressive considering that a majority have not taken it as an important thing to do. Training in resuscitation is among the most important skills people should have. Today, majority of incidents of cardiac arrests are witnessed in households.

Usually, there is very little chance for one to survive after a pulmonary arrest if resuscitation is not provided. It takes about 5 minutes or less for one to die of a pulmonary arrest. While medics respond in a short time when they are called to handle emergencies involving cardiac arrests, that time is not sufficient to allow a person to survive.

By the time they get to the scene, already a life has been lost. Similarly, the time taken to rush such people to health facilities is not enough to keep them alive until they receive special medical attention. When people train in CPR, it actually increases the odds of such patients surviving. Statistics show that when you perform resuscitation, you could be doing it to a love one in the family.

The patients have to be rushed to nearby health facilities or the medics are called to offer medical help. However, although medics respond very fast when they are called taking approximately 8 to 12 minutes to arrive at scene of the incidents, this time is considered too long for one to be still alive. People who have been struck by pulmonary arrest will only live for about 5 minute and they are dead.

It is estimated that about 8 percent of people attacked by circulatory arrest are the ones to survive and the remaining 92 percent die before they reach hospitals. This is a big number of patients dying from such a condition, which may at times, be managed with use of chest compressions, or the rescue breathes. One reason why people die in such large numbers from cardiac arrest is that first aid with use of resuscitation procedures is not provided.

A patient may be given chest compressions, which involve use of hands to do compressions. About 100 to 120 compressions may be done in minute. Resuscitation will provide an artificial flow of blood to other parts of body. While it is not meant to be a treatment procedure, it can save lives.

Online CPR courses are tailored in such a way that people can train when they want. You do not have to leave other duties such as work. In addition, technology has allowed for such online classes to effective in imparting knowledge. One important thing when training in resuscitation is that you have to learn how to practically conduct the procedures.
