By Leslie Ball

Sports is more than just entertainment. Yes, watching a good game is a real treat that we can enjoy having with our families. But on a deeper side, it is also an avenue where we get to hear beautiful stories of teamwork, patience, endurance, and all other values learned while mastering a sport.

There are many sports celebrated around the world. Some of them are lauded internationally, while others remain national. Maryland triathlons is among the events that are most awaited by a lot of sports enthusiasts who want to test the limits of their stamina in this physically strenuous activity.

Triathlons are events that require a lot of physical strength and endurance. As such, they need utmost preparation from the participants. Failure to do so may result to injuries and even disqualification from the competition. If you plan to participate, be sure to avoid doing any of the following.

Training in an irregular manner. The moment you decide to join a triathlon is the same time that you commit to regular, meaning daily training. One is to boost your endurance, and two is to test your own limits. Do not think that occasional intensive training is enough. Its not enough unless you create the habit of doing it every day.

Buying of inapproriate gears. We are talking of three different types of activities here, running, swimming and biking. Having the necessary gears for these activities therefore will matter a lot. Unfortunately, there are beginners who fail to consider the appropriate gears that is fitted for the event and stick with the one that they have. This in result makes them feel uncomfortable.

Failing to monitor progress. Even if you train hard, if you cannot see your daily progress, then it is difficult to assess in general if you are really improving. Your best bet is to create a strategy that will allow you to record the specifics of your training. Doing so will give you a reference in case you need to do some changes.

Eating bad foods. Bad foods are those that destroy your diet. They do not contain the nutrients that our body needs to help strengthen the muscles and bones. Unfortunately, most of those considered bad are the same foods that we consider as tasty. Unless you want to have some problems during the game, better stick to the healthier choices.

Underestimating the nature of triathlon. You have heard this earlier, but let us try to think about it once again. Triathlon is no ordinary sport. Its a combination of three and lasts longer. Treating it like an ordinary one and thinking that you have someone whom you can rely on such as that of team sports will only put you in a disadvantage.

Your journey to winning is not as easy as you think it is. It needs tremendous amount of preparation before you succeed. Do not underestimate it and do what you can to equip you with the right mindset and solid stamina.
