Keeping Yourself Safe When Camping Outdoors

By Hary V Gatsch

I love the outdoors, with trekking being my favorite outdoor pastime. Naturally, with hiking comes camping. I have purchased practically every necessary camping gear of my own: a tent, a stove, cooking tools, a 30-liter and also a 45-liter backpack, trekking poles, and the like.

As soon as one of my coworkers invited me to go outdoor camping on a mountain out of state, I said yes quickly. I then did some research on the mountain and found out that it was the home of several bears. Although there had been only a few bear attacks documented there over the past 2 decades, I figured that it would be a great idea to check on the web the best bear spray brand available.

You make use of bear pepper spray to defend yourself from bear attacks. It's a non fatal weapon, therefore, you can be assured that you won't be killing or completely injuring the bear.

Bear repellent should just be used on bears. Whenever sprayed, it does not engage the bear in combat. Rather, it wards the animal off. As soon as the effects of the bear spray fade away, the bear can rejoin its sleuth.

I looked at several bear pepper sprays just before eventually buying the Guard Alaska bear spray. I made sure that it was sent to my home at least one week before my scheduled camping trip.

This particular pepper spray for bears is authorized by the Environmental Protection Agency as well as recommended by the Alaska Science & Technology Foundation. And it can last for 36 months if stored in the house at room temperature.

The 9 oz. bear repellant shouldn't be sprayed around your camping area as it may entice bears. Instead, it should only be used for defense. It has 9 one-second bursts which can achieve a distance of 20 feet, a more-than-comfortable distance between you and a wild animal.

Personally, the best bear spray to carry along with you is one which you can count on when there's an absolute need for it.
