Wrestling & Drawing The Parallels To Obstacle Event Racing

By Rob Sutter

I don't think that many individuals are going to go against the idea of an obstacle event because it is one of the more competitive instances to speak of. You're going to have to work up the courage, amongst other elements, in order to win. The reason that I talk about such elements is because of what I thought about after watching wrestling a number of nights ago. It has to be asked: are there certain wrestlers who can be tied to elements of the race in question?

I don't think that the many aspects of an obstacle event can be underestimated, especially intensity. In fact, you may just see how well it comes into play when competitions the likes of Spartan Race start to unfold. You will find that many wrestlers will possess this quality but I think that Daniel Bryan has been able to hone this aspect better than anyone else. From his quick movements to his hard-hitting shots, I think that ferocity is present in some of the greatest amounts you can imagine.

One of the interesting aspects about this kind of event is that, in many cases, it is done as part of a team. Whether wrestlers like it or not, they may find themselves as part of a team as well. When you take this into consideration, I believe that such stars as Christian and Kofi Kingston make the cut. Both of them have tremendous experience working with others and, considering how long they've been in WWE, something tells me that they can work well while dispensing their knowledge onto upstarts.

What about athleticism, which may be a bit downplayed but still stands as an important factor to consider? It's clear that all of the wrestlers I enjoy can move very well but it seems like DolphZiggler puts forth more of an effort than others in this regard. When he is hit with moves, it looks as though he has been struck with a massive rocket. He treats every move as if it is the death of him, which only helps to make individuals more invested in the bouts he is in.

To say that an obstacle event is composed of many levels is like saying that a wrestler is only going to be somewhat strong. Of course, certain features of the event in question are going to vary, depending on who will employ them. I think there are some wrestlers who work better in the ring than others while separate individuals have levels of experience which cannot be touched. It seems like comparisons are waiting to be made and it'd be interesting to make more.
