Can New York City Raise Efforts For Bicycling For Commuting

By Rob Sutter

I am of the opinion that New York City is an area where both positive and negative aspects come together. In terms of the latter, traveling to and moving through the city alike can be quite treacherous and something of a challenge for those who have never been there. There are also parts of the city which I deem some of the most attractive that anyone can set their eyes on. I believe that bicycling for commuting can be done in these areas and the efforts to make the action better proves it.

For those who have ever been to New York City, you probably know all about how people move from place to place. It's clear that the aspect of travel is broad, seeing as how cars and bicycles alike can be employed. However, I'd like to think that the latter option is more commonly seen and I think that it's somewhat because of how crowded the city environment can be. You want to be able to move around carefully while arriving at your destination in a timely fashion.

There was a report on Crain's New York Business, talking about how Memorial Day Weekend would see the advent of a new bike-share program. Those who commute from place to place on two wheels will be able to utilize Citi Bike, which will come about on May 27th, to be more exact. Those who have signed up prior to the 17th can make use of the system during its first week, an annual fee being seen at $95. Not only is the amount affordable but the backing has been quite substantial.

It's clear that New Yorkers see the value in bicycling for commuting, as many of them already took the steps to help on the matter. In fact, the article said that more than 8,000 New Yorkers have signed up in order to support the formation of a new way to move from one place to the next. People who are enthused about this way of travel have a lot to be excited about. Companies like Linus can tell you that these programs have surfaced in quite a number of areas recently.

I think more and more folks are becoming aware of their own health and the actions they can take in order to make matters easier for them. While diet changes can be done, they won't be nearly as effective if exercise isn't done. This type of bicycling for commuting can be the key. Not only does it serve as a great method of travel but the physical exertion that is associated with it is most certainly going to matter in the long run.
