What to look for in New Work Boots

By Jake Canvini

You've probably been there either while at work or when you are out on the town. Your feet start aching and throbbing, killing you with every step you take. Do your best to not let it happen anymore. Take a little time and get yourself some good shoes or boots, and it will make a huge difference in the way you feel and perform at work or while at play.

Whether it's for work or recreation, a new pair of boots for example, there are a few items you want to watch out for when you begin your search for your next pair boots. Do yourself a favor and don't just pick the first pair of boots you see and call it good. Not all boots are the same.

The foot bed for example can contain multiple layers that offer a lot of support and cushion for your feet throughout the whole day, and all night. Several boot manufacturers are now using up-to-date materials in their product lines that were just not available several years ago. Some boot-makers are quite confident that their boots will offer better posture and reduce fatigue.

Some boots feature a gel like material in the foot bed for even more stability, comfort and support. Many of these boots claim that the gel cushioning can help the heel stabilize while giving you more comfort. Also be on the lookout for a work boot that will offer a anti moisture foot bed that will help keep your feet cool and free of moisture.

Don't forget the toe. There is the traditional steel toed boot, and then there is the newer composite toe boot feature. A steel toed boot protects those toes, but is also a conductor of cold, so if you find yourself in a colder climate, you may not be down with that. A composite toed boot is made of strong lighter weight materials without sacrificing any safety.

The rubber meets the road in the sole, and most people want comfort, stability and traction in their boots. Manufacturers like Ariat, use their own rubber compounds, blown rubber, and injected rubber in parts of the boots sole. Some of these rubber materials used today offer to help not only with flexibility, but comfort to keep you moving good all day long.

You might want to think about having your new boots incorporate some resistance to oil and heat. Having excellent traction is also key in a lot of jobs or in certain weather conditions. Consider how you will use your boots all year around and what is most important to you when wearing them every day.

One more important feature to consider is durability. You don't want your new pair of boots to wear out and give you problems in just a month or two. Getting a good deal means you get a good product at a good price. You might get a low price somewhere, but if your feet are killing you three weeks later, or your boots are wearing out, it won't seem like much of a deal.

When you are at work or at play and your feet are killing you and getting in the way of what you need to get done, don't put up with it. Shop online or in a store, just make sure you check out the latest styles, features and fashions in both work and casual boots. Manufacturers like Ariat boots for example, are committed to taking the everyday work boot to a whole new level, and your feet will thank you for purchasing a decent boot.
