Learn Some New Camping Tips Right Here

By Roxane J. Talisen

Camping is a great activity that is often shard with family and friends. It is possible that you may never have tried it because it seems difficult. It does not need to be if you have all of the right information. Use the following tips to help you become a more skilled camper quickly.

Clean out your campsite before you leave to go back home. Bring garbage bags with you on the trip so that you have a place to store all of the trash. Do not leave any left over food behind. When you leave a campsite, the only thing left should be your footprints.

While on a camping trip, you could potentially make some new lifelong friends. Get out, walk around, and meet people. Camping can be an extremely social event. You're missing out on a lot if you aren't being social during your camping experience.

When you go camping, you live on basics, but you need to be prepared too. Bring extra blankets along with your sleeping bag. They can be very handy when the evening temperatures drop. If not needed for warmth, they can be extra padding from the solid ground beneath.

Bring some duct tape on your camping trip. The tape that does it all at home, also does it all while camping. Duct tape can be used to repair anything. It is also useful for taping up tears in tents, tarps or sleeping bags. Tape also does wonders for blisters by offering an additional layer of protection. You can even use it to hold on a makeshift bandage.

Take the measures necessary to have a safe camping trip. In other words, stay away from wild animals, large or small. You may be surprised at just how dangerous little critters can be. One thing you should never do is feed a bear if you see one, even though you probably would be too scared to approach one!

You can easily start a campfire with lint from the dryer. A month before your camping trip, begin collecting the lint from your dryer's lint filter. You can simply stuff it all into a plastic grocery bag you keep near the dryer. As such, you'll have kindling ready whenever you are.

Depending on the length of your camping trip, you might want to have some way of entertaining yourself or passing the time. Of course, if you bring too many electronics, you may defeat the purpose of the trip, but there is nothing better than sitting beside a lake reading, or listening to music beside a camp fire at night.

On your camping trip, make sure that you have a proper place for your bathroom needs outdoors. You don't necessarily need a bathroom or a porta-potty. Find a spot that is away from others to take care of your business. Double check your supply of toilet paper to make sure you have enough, unless you've already decided to use leaves instead.

Waterproof matches are an essential part of any camping survival kit. Keep them in a container that is airtight. Matches can be made waterproof by simply placing them in either nail polish or paraffin for a quick dip. You can store these matches in something like a medicine bottle or empty film container.

Don't assume you can find wood at or near your camp site. Bring along some dry wood and store it where it remain dry.

Now that you took in the information stated above, you are ready to give camping a try. Keep in mind all that you have learned, no matter where you decide to pitch your next tent. Camping is soon to be an experience in which you will engage quite often.
