Kind of Knife

There exist two kinds of knives you can decide on. The fixed blade and the foldable back. Both of which will provide you with great benefits. Most important is to find the one that fits your hunting style the best. A few more deciding factors will be how you will carry the knife and how you can store it.

The most favored among the two is the lock back knife since the blade can be easily concealed through folding and can be opened by just using your thumb. Injuries as well as other unnecessary accidents are prevented simply because of this locking and folding feature. In closing the knife, a button has to be released to fold the blade back into the sheath. For those who prefer to carry knives around their belt, they can simply opt for the lock blade knives. These knives are also favored because of their small size.No doubt these knives can serve well on any everyday tasks however would not be very effective when hunting big games.

Durability is the main feature of the fixed blades. You can simply use this knife in any tasks that require a knife. The knife has a solid metal blade that is covered by a handle on top.Because it is fixed, it is always open. The best quality knife is where a blade has a full tang, meaning that from top to end, the blade is solid. Also, make sure the handle fits your hand comfortably for easy grip. These knives usually have a sheath that comes upon purchase which can be carried around the waist or strapped on other parts of the body. You should also make a decision on which kind of sheath you are going to have for your knife. Since these knives are more durable, they are more preferred for hunting.

Kind of Blade

There are practically a thousand types of blades for you to choose from. Those that are preferred by hunters are the clip point blades, skinning blades and the drop point blades. The clip point is a blade with the curve tip. It is used for the more tedious tasks like capping the head. The function of the curve tip is to get into small areas. However, you can't always use this knife to handle large animals. The drop point blade on the other hand is best to handle large animals.Compared to the clip point knife it is lengthier and the curve tip is much more longer for deeper areas.Mainly used in order to avoid damaging the hide, this knife is simply loved by many hunters.

The last kind of blade is the skinning blade. Usually has carvings on the edge of its blade, this knife is very much useful not only to hunters but all outdoorsmen. The upward sweeping design is the main feature of this blade. It also is good to use in capping out your trophy head

Then there is the gut hook. This is to open the belly. This knife will allow you to cut through the inners of the animal without having to waste any meat.
