It can be dangerous to your health to use protein shakes frequently as a meal replacement. A full meal contains many essential nutrients that are not included in protein shakes. In addition, living off protein shakes can leave your muscles soft which negates your muscle building efforts.

Most of them were designed with specific gender, age and/or body type in mind, so make sure you get one that was formulated for people like you. Since you will be doing more exercise to get your weight up, it is important you take vitamins to replace all that you will lose when you perspire.
