Be Sure to Have the Shoes You Need

By Danni Dunbar

If you're anything like me, you detest being caught off guard under any circumstances, which, of course, requires always having the right outfit ready to go, particularly where shoes are concerned. It's not difficult to have a nicely-rounded shoe collection so that whatever the occasion, you have the ideal pair. Here are eight pairs of shoes you need to always keep on hand. And always remember, versatility is key!

The Traditional Black Pump

You won't fail with a pair of mid-heel (2-4 inch) closed-toe black pumps you can dress with down or up. Whether for work or play, they're there for you.

Pumps in a Basic Brown

Don't forget that tan is a shade of brown, and as a neutral color, brown is just as flexible as black. A mid-heel, closed-toe pair of shoes will be a great companion.

The Black Heel With an Open Toe

A pair of pumps for evening wear, with open or peep-toe and some glam are excellent for a night downtown, with jeans, on a date or to a dinner party.

Heels With Some Color

Often you need to enliven things and have a bit of fun. A bright, colorful pair of heels, from medium all the way to stiletto and either open or closed-toe, are a necessary accessory and speak for themselves.

Colorful Flats

A pair of cute flats, in any color, style or decoration you prefer, is a great choice for a dress-down day at work or for dashing out on errands.

The Traditional Tennis Shoe

Even if you're not going to exercise, run or play tennis, having a pair of sneakers may be useful when you need to go casual.

Flip-Flops Are Always Reliable

On a hot summer's day, when you throw on shorts and are in a casual mode, a pair of colorful thong-sandals is just right.

Back to Black

The last couple of years, booties have come back in style with a vengeance, and it's no surprise why. There are many hundreds of cute styles that come just to your ankle and are good with skirts, pants, or dresses.

Now get busy stocking that closet!
