Benefits Of Having A Traffic Safety Vest

By James Black

All our family members are into sports. We either bike, jog, swim, play tennis or hike. We want to be fit and active all the time. In view of the fact that we want to continue having a fit and healthy lifestyle, we make certain that we are secured when doing these activities, biking or jogging on the road in particular. Biking was our family's preferred leisure when my son was still young. We ride our bikes even into the night around our local community. Though this wasn't so far from the present time, we did not wear anything to keep us safe. We simply got on our bikes and whisked away! Then again, at these current times, things are never the same as before.

I hate to accept it, but the world is not safe - with cars rushing at full speed and negligence. Be defensive when driving your car, the same can be applied for biking and jogging. I prefer to do these activities on the back roads and hills, but they have their dangers, too. So to minimize the possibility of an injury, I insist that all family members wear a helmet, and a reflective vest, especially if the activity is at dawn, dusk or evening. Most often, we do not ride on the road at nights.

There are additional ways you can be safe on the road. Clearly the objective is to circumvent road accidents. Having a headlight on your bike can help other motorists be aware of your presence. To help you see that the driver of the approaching car is aware of your presence, putting lights on your helmet is useful. There are many countries that require bells on bikes, so adding a horn is a good idea. Slowly hit on the brakes in case you have to leave the road to avoid getting run into by an approaching car. Be careful of drivers emerging from parking lots, don't drive on pedestrian lanes, don't oppose traffic, at a stop light stay beside the car and not behind it so that other motorists can see you, look at your side mirrors before taking a turn, at all times look behind you first before you move, do not crisscross in traffic or parking lots, and never forget to use signals before turning. If you are riding at night, you should most certainly have a headlight and a blinking taillight. Use a vest with reflectors. Avoid narrow streets and streets with heavy traffic on the weekends. Just obey the traffic rules and make sure you have your appropriate protection gear and equipment on that will surely keep you safe from harm.

Many of the safety tips for biking are the same for jogging. A suit with reflectors is what you should wear, do not use your earphones (valid for biking also), and be vigilant of the atmosphere around you. When you ride your bike or jog on the streets, you are also prone to respiratory problems because of the air pollution from cars. You can breathe in plenty of carbon monoxide in just a short time including dust and fragments. Nevertheless, it is sometimes the only choice people have.

Therefore the most excellent choice is to safeguard yourself as much as possible. One of the best tips is make certain that you stay visible on the road and the way to do that is wear a reflective vest, either orange or yellow in color.
