How To Successfully Hold A Karate Tournament

By Sandra Roberts

Like elections, championships are not events but processes. This is why karate tournament depend on several aspects so that they can be termed as having been successful. Knowing this will help the organizers to understand the kind of task they have and begin to prepare early enough to avoid the last minute rushes that can hamper their success. Thus, in this article, a few of the essential pillars of a successful championship will be discussed.

Prepare accordingly by having people who have the interests of such a game at heart. When such people become leaders and are directing key activities like championships, it will be easy to achieve the success you want. However, when wrong individuals take the torch of leadership, they will only light under their feet, leaving the rest of the people in darkness. Therefore, the first thing is to entrust the right individuals with the mandate of leading the rest.

Whether the participants are from across the world or locals only, make sure that pooling is done without any bias. The team tasked to oversee this process must lay down the rules that will govern the pooling process. Pooling is the pairing of participants into categories or pools in the preliminary levels of the championship. Any person of interest must never take part in the process since it will create a conflict of interest.

When it comes to the particular teams and players, there must be a consensus on what is acceptable and what will not be acceptable. Punishments must be agreed upon by all the key stakeholders, and a tribunal can also be constituted based on agreed factors. These regulations must also be respected by all the teams and their trainers.

When sourcing for the referees, there is usually the tendency to award friends and cronies these jobs. That will be a mistake that will only lead to dissatisfaction among the participants, especially those that will read a foul play. Bring all the coaches on board, agree on how to select referees and let everyone be heard. However, it is highly recommended to have training sessions for referees or those that are trained and certified.

Above everything mentioned above, there is the point about the objectives of a game. You, as the organizers, must be clear about what you want to achieve through the championship. When that happens, it helps to direct the game and let people know what is there for them at particular stages or at the end of it all.

Again, other than just objectives, people love incentives. Let everyone know what is in for them so as invest their time and money with the ultimate prize in mind. Incentives could be in terms of money, sponsorship, trophies and belts, global tours, among other things.

To sum it up, learn from those who have made it in the past. Besides, bring on board individuals who will help you achieve your goal and not those who will want to pull you down. Success in any field is a collective responsibility, and each person must play their role with diligence to bring about this success.
