Information On Pronghorn Antelope Hunts

By Scott Lee

Hunting refers to killing of animals by humans or by other animals in order to acquire food. In the case of animals, the animal that is hunted is called the prey for instance antelope while the hunting animal is the predator like the lion. There are numerous ways of hunting depending on the type of prey being hunted. Pronghorn antelope hunts offer hunters good experience.

Wildlife service classifies hunting into two main categories, that is, legal and illegal. Legal hunting takes place when one hunts animals that are not classified as protected by the wildlife service. Thus, the hunter cannot be convicted for breaking the law. The hunter is usually permitted to engage in the activity. On the other hand, illegal hunting is when one hunts protected animals or inflicts malicious injury to animals. Many refer to it as poaching.

There are different ways of hunting as it is not only the trapping and killing of land animals but also the aquatic animals too. Fishing which is a form of hunting has different methods of getting the prey which include use of fishing rods, nets, spears and baskets. The animals on land are trapped, baited, rifled, speared and even bowed.

The best method to be used is determined by the size of the prey to be hunted. For small-sized animals like birds, baits are suitable since they have less physical energy. In this method, a hunter positions the bait in order to attract the bird or animals. The prey is then caught before it can escape.

Arrows and bows are used on complex animals that are strong enough and do not fall victims of bait. This method is used in the hunting of game animals. Rifles can also be used in the hunting of such animals and as method of defense against the dangerous animals that may tend to attack the hunter when approached. This is an expensive method used in hunting and can cause tension in the jungle.

Animals may be forced to move to specific places before they are captured. The hunters ensure that the place will cause a lot of distress to the animal and it will be forced to surrender and therefore being caught. Caves are often suitable venues for this kind of hunting when the prey enters in the hunters attack it from the entrance. The animal may search for a means to escape without success.

Dogs are sometimes used to hunt animals when speed is a vital skill for capturing the animal. Dogs chase the animal around until it grabs it with its teeth or it is fatigued and surrenders. Animals like the hare are a good example where this method can bear fruit. It is important for the hunter to train the dog before making an adventure.

The hunters should be experienced and have adequate knowledge of the animal they are after and where they can be found. For instance people hunting fish should be able to predict where they can be found. Hunters should be able to predict the reaction of an animal when they are faced with danger such as the sight of human beings or other predators.
