It actually works most of the time given that you are fast enough to react and respond.

Use some signals. Calling turkeys especially the males is another approach used by some hunters. They imitate the sound of women or use a radio to capture the attention of approaching male game. Be persistent and patient as well. These two qualities are important in being a hunter. If you swiftly make movements, its easier for them to identify your presence. Perhaps you could get better result just by being optimistic.
