Best Practices On Living An Active Lifestyle

By Steven Thompson

A lot of people spend a large majority of their time sitting or reclining that they do not realize inactivity can lead to serious health problems. Scientific studies have proven that individuals who live active lives are shown to be more productive and in physically good condition. They are also less likely to develop harmful diseases or ailments because of their healthy decisions. If you want to know more about changing your lazy habits, here is how you could go about it.

Spring forward. Sometimes the simplest way to begin is by going back to basics, and you can do no better than by walking around. Taking a nice and long walk can be satisfying, especially if you roam around your neighborhood and see various happenings such as tennis court construction Rhode Island or some other interesting sights. Take those first steps and the rest will soon follow.

Remain in motion. Doing mundane tasks at work usually means performing them in a cubicle where you are likely in a seated position for most of the time. Break the monotonous mold of inertness and force yourself to take action. Devote a few minutes of your work day to making subtle yet active movements such as leg stretches or hip rotations.

Out of the box. A common habit most office workers do nowadays is eating their lunch at their workstations or taking coffee breaks in the communal pantry. To shake things up a bit, force yourself to step out of the confines of your office building and expose yourself to some sun and fresh air. This is also a good excuse for you to take your meals outside.

Put your paws up. Dogs can be a great partner in your quest for living the active life. This is because pet dogs need to be taken care of, and one of the chief requirements is letting them out for walks and runs. And bonding sessions like these present the opportunity for you to move around in relation to the movements of your pet like jumping or running on the ground.

Clean house. You might not realize this but doing mundane household tasks is considered a good form of exercise. Chores such as sweeping or mopping floors to carrying a heavy load of laundry out to dry are effective calorie burning activities. So the next time you missed a day at the gym, you can always make up for it by simply cleaning your home.

Kitchen duties. Another handy domestic task that will motivate you to move your body is by cooking meals. It may sound strange, but preparing and cooking food actually requires a lot of physical movements, particularly your arms since preparation techniques like chopping vegetables or slicing meats are done by hand. And the best part is that you get to eat what you made.

Friendship is magic. Your friends are there to support you in your endeavors, and with a little bit of persuasion on your end, you could even convince them to be part of your active lifestyle. Plan out group activities that will appeal to them in a fun way. Good examples would be going out to the beach to play frisbee or even a fun weekend night out at a club for some serious dancing.

As far as living an active life is concerned, you should seriously consider making changes because the benefits are impressive. Stick to the program featured above and you will see a transformation happen. A new version of you awaits once you commit to being active.
