Why Play Tennis In A Group

By Davis Pete

If you are not sure if you should take private or group tennis lessons, please read on to find out more. You will be pleasantly surprised by the many positive experiences you can get from attending an adult group tennis lesson course. This is not to say private lessons are no good. Each type of tennis lesson will serve its purpose.

Playing and learning tennis in a group allow one to mingle and socialise with other people. This is an important way of getting to know people. Apart from having something in common, learning tennis together can enhance one's self esteem as well. One will also be spurred on by others when learning tennis together.

One of the main benefits of learning tennis in a group is in the friendship which develops as the lessons progress. One can observe and learn from one another. The friendships built up can further assist in making the tennis lessons exciting and fun.

Everyone enjoys a bit of competition. Learning tennis is also the same whereby one can try to show off a bit more. That is one would like to show that one learn faster and perhaps appear more athletic. It is a normal human response to try to outshine the other person.

There is another advantage adult group tennis lessons have for the beginner who is shifting from a sedentary to an active lifestyle. A private lesson may involve an enormous amount of exercise that the person is not yet physical ready to do. Frankly, because there are a number of people an instructor has to worry about; a beginner will hit fewer balls and run a lot fewer laps in a group class. Later, when that beginner has begun to physically improve, he or she can take more intense and physical lessons.

Tennis is essentially a game of acquired skill. It takes concentration and one on one instruction may be intimidating for a beginner. Group lessons encourage support and a beginner usually feels much better after one or two group lessons. That new person to tennis is also able to develop a network of new friends who share the same hobby, and close relationships lasting for years can come from the training sessions.

Private lessons can be costly. For someone such as a young working adult, the game on an individual level could be a bit out of reach. Hence, group tennis lessons will serve to alleviate this monetary situation.

Another positive benefit of learning tennis in a group setting is the physical security it provides i.e. safety in numbers. This is more so if you are a lady and having private lessons with a coach in a rather private tennis court. It is just something to consider if you are a lady and is not so sure about the 'private' situation you are putting yourself into.

Group tennis lessons tend to be more regimented with respect to its timing and schedule. Typically, lessons are conducted after working hours in order to facilitate more working adults to join the group tennis lessons.
