Your Guide to Kids Sleeping Bags

By Emma Arrington

Kids, especially girls enjoy going for slumber or pajama parties. These parties are commonly held at a friend's place, where participants or guests will stay overnight. In this case, if a rather big group of kids were to gather together, a standard bed and sheets would not exactly be feasible. This is possibly due to the space constraints and it would be uncomfortable to squeeze three kids or more kids on a single or double bed.

Here are the key factors to take note of when choosing the best sleeping bag for you:

Additionally, I would encourage you to look at the temperature rating of the bag attentively. It is imperative that you choose the right and most suitable bag based on the climate and weather of the place you or your child will be spending the night at.

Temperature Rating A sleeping bag's temperature rating refers to the lowest temperature at which it will be able to keep an average sleeper sufficiently warm. Most of these ratings would assume that the user is already wearing a layer of underwear and clothing; after all, they are only guidelines. For the most part, a summer seasoned sleeping bag would be suitable for temperatures ranging from 35degrees Fahrenheit or higher. A three-seasoned sleeping bag would suit temperatures from 10 to 35 degrees Fahrenheit. This is commonly used during the autumn, spring and early fall seasons, when the environment is cool. A cold weather sleeping bag is most appropriate for use in places with temperatures ranging from -10 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Lastly, an environment with temperatures of 10 degrees Fahrenheit and below would require an extreme or winter sleeping bag.

Lastly, these indoor sleeping bags do have thermal insulation qualities but are advised mostly for indoor use. Due to the lightweight fabrics it is manufactured with, it is softly lined with smooth padding to support the back and provide comfort. For additional warmth, kids are encouraged to wear thermal underwear or a jumper to sleep in the indoor sleeping bag.

Lastly, after you have decided on the sleeping bag shape as well as the type of fill of the bag depending on the temperature of the environment and the season/s, I would advise you to be absolutely certain that the sleeping bag you have selected will fit your child. Look at the measurements carefully and be sure that it is not too snug neither is it baggy nor have too much of an allowance space. It ought to be a comfortable fit with some allowance for the length and width of the bag for growing children. This will ensure that the same bag can be used year in year out.
