Things To Know Before Purchasing Cool Sheets

By Sara Jane Marcum

There are times when the weather is exceptionally hot and keeping cool may go beyond the use of air conditioners. Cool sheets will ensure that you enjoy your sleep by remaining cozy even when your body would have warmed other sheets. However, they are made in various sizes and are made with different fabrics. Hence, it is essential to know some things before buying them.

The foremost thing to look for in any sheet is the threading per square inch. Materials with lower threading are usually rough to the touch and may not provide the best sleeping experience. Conversely. The higher the threading, the smoother it feels and the better the sleep. Fabrics that are threads above four hundred per square inch are usually the best.

Before you buy, you should also check the packaging very well. You should also ask for recommendations from friends and family who have bought a particular type of sheet before making any purchase. There are times when manufacturers would emphasize Egyptian cotton in their advert when they have used only six percent in production.

A wise course of action would be to take the measurement of your mattress before you buy bedclothes. Purchasing a sheet that is way smaller than you mattress does not really hold any humor. More so, there is little you can do to adjust a small sheet than to buy a bigger one.

In addition, if you usually leave a pillow or any other material on the mattress, a smart move is to leave it there when you measure. It is usually common that people will measure a naked mattress and use the measurement to pick a bed sheet. A good thing to remember is that a bigger sheet is better than a smaller one because you can always tuck the extra under the mattress.

Before buying cool sheets, you should also ask to know if it would shrink after washing. You should also know how far it would shrink so that you will be prepared. However, most manufacturers always factor in the shrinking when cutting the measurements.
