Why You Should Book Tee Times

By Anne Harvester

Tee time is a reservation made by golfers to play at a particular golf course. In this case no matter how crowded the golf course is having a tee time assures the players of having a chance at playing. When approved the group is assigned a particular time at which they would have to play for example at 10.30am. The appointments are made at the golf shops or at the courser's website where a reservation service is offered. The major reason for having such a procedure is to ensure organization and proper co-ordination of the matches.

Different courses have different tee times and it is therefore advised that one checks the time schedules. If the group of golfers fail to turn up at the specified time allocated to them no exceptions are made and in some even penalized for the disruption in schedule.

There are always misconceptions that every course requires to book tee time. This however is not the case since some courses work on the basis of first come first serve. Even so it is still advised that one books an appointment so that as to avoid mishaps or miss the opportunity to play.

The tee times are usually spaced with time spans that are eight to above fifteen minutes long. This allows for the group members to recollect themselves ready for the next tee time. With the given rest phases there are no exceptions made when one group misses there tee time.

When players book tee times there are certain specifications that the groups have to verify. For example they have to specify the size of the group whether it's a threesome; a group three foursome; a group of four or any other size their might be. In other cases might need to rent a club or cart which can be done at the of booking.

Making reservations at the golf shop is usually a much better idea than booking online (unless you know the course very well yourself), as the attendants working there can help you pick the best time slot. They can also advice you on the best conditions and rates available.

The rates for reserving a tee time vary from one course to another. It also depends on the fact that if its a peak season or not, or whether the course is offering some kind of discount to the players. All of this information can easily be asked from the attendants. Credit cards are usually the main monetary form of payment but this again depends on the administration.

The golfers should also observe the policies that come with different golf courses. Some might be strict and others lenient when it comes to issues such as cancellation of reservations or turning up late for a tee time. Some policies are also imposed on the reservations where some allow you to book way earlier like some allow a year in advance while others will not.
