"The United States is one huge landmass that has almost everything. From the sunny beaches of Florida to the chilly winds of Illinois and the bliss of the Central Park in New York, the United States is truly a paradise for tourists and residents alike. For those who have learned to love the sport of fishing, the country boasts of few of the world's best catches.


Below is a rundown of some of the country's best known catches that are sure to lure you to get out of your comfort zone into the adventure that comes along the baits and the line.


1. White Sturgeon- This is the largest freshwater fish in America. This is definitely a fisherman's trophy. It can reach enormous sizes of as big as 800 kilograms. Enthusiasts out there, if your pursuit is solely the white sturgeon, then get some really strong company; you might just be dragging a ginormous beast-like catch. This fish lurks underneath the lakes and rivers of the North American land mass. A catch of the white sturgeon is surely to upgrade your fishing status to higher levels.


2. Salmon- Salmon is another fish that has been synonymous with the fishing sport, aside from its creamy taste that commands increasing market value and demand. Of those who have tried the sport have had a salmon wriggling to let loose of their hook and line. This fish has been attached to a folklore that they go back to the exact spot where they were born. Salmon are anadromous: they are born in fresh water, migrate to the ocean and then return to fresh water to reproduce." They are known to scour the oceans and yet always, with amazing precision and accuracy go back to the same spot to spawn. Radio tracking devices have proven this to be real.


3. Bass - One of the most prized game fish, the bass is one hefty prize that fishermen from all over the world desire to catch. The name bass actually came from the word "bars" which mean perch. The word bass encompasses quite a number of popular game fishes and may be fresh water or seawater fish. One common characteristic is that they are all perch-like, hence, the word bass.
