Chasing American gazelles may be quite challenging because of the notorious restless character and their exceptional vision. Approaching them across an open field poses challenges to the chasers. They are also hard to judge by seeing their hoof. This also gives a hard task to the gazelle chasers who are looking for trophy quality buck. One has to know more about pronghorn antelope hunts before going to the field.

The best trick on getting within the range of the gazelle is by not being seen. This is because vision is a gazelle best defense. The defense mechanism of gazelle is different from the other animals. They are privileged to have good eyesight and at the same time a high speed. The defense mechanism which gazelle depend on is eyesight and speed.

The secondary defense of the American gazelle is the hearing and smelling when it comes to killing them. One can be able to follow an antelope with the wind flowing from the back and be successful to kill them. One can also make noise while stalking an antelope unlike when stalking a deer or an elk that are sensitive to sound and smell. However, if the gazelle notice you moving even at a very long distance they can easily bust you.

One of the important factors in chasing gazelle is planning a good stalk. One should stay out of sight during the stalk. This gives a chance for a chaser to have a perfect approach and have a good shoot at the gazelle. However, a perfect stalk is determined by its location and the activities the gazelle is involved in.

More also, sometimes the landscape may appear to be so flat but carefully looking you will notice or see features that may help you to get closer to the gazelle. It is advisable to use anything you can to move closer to the range you can have a good shoot. This can only be achieved through crawling on both hands and the knees.

Moreover, having a difficult stalk may mean a long shot is the only option available. This makes the shooting skill to be of great importance. Sometime the only available shot is the longer shot and how comfortable the shooter is with their riffle from the long range determines their chances of taking a quality antelope.

In any big game gazelle hunting the most important factor is the range of shot a person can take. Most professional gazelle chasers have a long range shooting skills. One should be shooting his weapon all around the years and ensure to have perfected and become comfortable with their shooting skills with a great performance out to more than 300 yards.

One good thing about chasing a gazelle is that you can blow a stalk while on the chase but you can get another good chance for a shoot. A gazelle can take of at a very high speed and cover a lot of ground. However, it will forget about you after sometime and enable you to get another chance.
