For Good Golf Carts Sevierville Is The Way To Go

By Ruth Green

The name golf car is often used in the place of golf cart because carts cannot self-propel. They are vehicles meant to save time and energy on golf courses by transporting golfers. They are convenient and luxurious at the same time. Initial designs could only transport a maximum of two people, but the capacity has grown ever since. Now they are capable of moving golfing tools and supplies as well as multiple golfers. When one needs good golf carts Sevierville offers a good location to visit.

Initially, in Los Angeles, moving of old people to grocery stores was done using electric carts. This earlier application was where the idea of employing carts in golfing came from. The credit for the copying is often given to JK Wadley. In 1932, the first electric, customized cart was made and used. Its use was only limited at the time.

Between 1930s and 1950s, cart-use in golfing was limited to people with disabilities that make it hard for them to walk for long distances. Large scale adoption started by the mid-1950s with many major golfers acquiring their own cars. The number of producers started to grow steadily. Major producers of the time include Roebuck, Sears, and Victor Adding Machines. They produced a wide range of models.

Initially, manufacturers only manufactured electric models with gasoline-powered models being introduced later on. The number of wheels in most designs was either three or four. The unique design and antiquity of the three-wheeled models makes them to be sought after a lot today. They had a tiller or a steering wheel. The old models go at exorbitant prices and only a few restorers, collectors, and proud owners own them.

There are many communities in the United States and all over the world where golf carts are the main means of transport. One such community is the Peachtree City in Georgia, which is linked together by many cart-paths. Many people in the city, especially students travel by these vehicles. There is a parking lot specifically meant for these cars in McIntosh High School.

Many islands in the United States depend on these cars as the main form of transport. Motor vehicles are at times restricted just to allow golf cars to operate. Such islands include North Captiva Island, Santa Catalina Island, Hamilton Island, and Bald Head Island. In Florida, there is a retirement community named The Villages where the streets are dominated by these cars. The Villages has a population of more than 70, 000 retirees.

Cart-related accidents are on the rise as these vehicles are being adopted and used by more people. The annual number of accidents is always increasing on a global scale. Soft tissue damage in the form of fractures and bruises is the main form of accident experienced. Other forms of injuries include spinal cord injury, internal injuries, subdural hematoma, acute respiratory compromise, and concussions.

The causes of injuries in these vehicles are many and diverse. Some main causes are overturning of a cart, colliding with stationary objects or one another, and injuries resulting from boarding, falling, alighting or jumping off the cart. Instances of a cart running people down have also been reported.
