Louisiana has the largest reptiles in the United States. It is heavily infested with alligators. Indeed, it has the largest population of these creatures in the entire United States. They were originally discovered by settlers. Many people do engage in hunting process for various reasons. There are set procedures that must be followed before one is allowed to engage in Gator Hunting in Louisiana on land that is either privately or publically owned.

Alligator hunter should either seek permission to carry out stalking on their habitats which are mainly wetlands or having land that is infested by them. The fisheries and wildlife department has the mandate to issue tags to those interested in doing hunting. Before season commences, the interested hunter should apply for the tags.

For one to be eligible for issuance of tags one must own the licenses. The rule requires that during applications of a license one is expected to fill a form issued. In it, the information ought to be filled as required. In it, personal information and details should be issued. In addition to that, the applicant is expected to present a driving license of concerned driver. In many cases one is asked to indicate the type of property one owns.

When filling the form, it is required that the applicant to state what he or she intends to look for and the reasons behind it. At the same time, one is expected to present documents proving that one has received permission as required by the law from the property (land) owner. There are other documents that one is required to provide including hunting lease. Having provided the above items one is likely to be granted with the license.

It is advisable that persons willing to have information regarding alligator harvesting and whether qualifies for tags, visit relevant offices or a biologist in charge of harvesting on lands owned privately. To obtain a license, little amount is required to be paid to department in charge. On the other hand when obtaining tags no payment require since it is already catered for when obtaining the licenses.

The hunting places within Louisiana are classified into two zones. Here we have the east and the west zones. The zones are normally opened for around thirty days during the season. The acceptable methods during stalking include the use of hooks and lines. The use of arrows and the bows is also crucial. The process should be carried out from morning to evening but not during the night.

Any size can be captured. There are no restrictions concerning the size caught. However the population is checked by ensuring that the tags given are equal to number of alligators to be caught. Apparatus used during the process includes firearms but not shot guns.

To perform the act, a hook that has been baited, is placed over water where stalking is being performed. The suspension is accomplished with help of firm structures such as tree branches. Chicken and beef quarters are used when to attract alligators. When one is capture is killed and then removed for processing which is done in various processing plants located in City Pierre Park, LA.
