The Nature Which City Bicycle Riding to Work Possesses

By Rob Sutter

City bicycle riding may be a fun endeavor but I don't think it's something that people would freely do from home to work or vice versa. Maybe people regard this as too much of a trek and that it wouldn't be feasible to do so. This is a valid point but I also think that it's important to hold one's health in high regard, too. In New Orleans, I believe that the concept of riding will come about thanks to one event known as Bike to Work Day.

An article posted on the Advocate talked about this method to better utilize the city bicycle riding. The reason for this is because the city is seeing a number of lanes for cyclists to use exclusively and this is able to familiarize them with said paths. If you need a good idea of how much the prevalence of roads grew, consider that there were 11 miles before Hurricane Katrina and it is currently at 50 miles. It's the sort of finding that should grab the attention of names like Linus Bike.

You may be curious as to what kind of requirements have to be offered but you don't have to concern yourself too much with the matter. Essentially, all that is truly needed on the matter is a bicycle and you will be eligible. The day starts off rather early at seven and that's when people will unite thanks to the use of convoys. After that, people head to Central Business District and people can go about their days. Celebrations and snacks will be had after it's all said and done.

Participants are going to come in high amounts this year, as I'm sure you could imagine. The article stated that more than 500 participants took place in the annual event last year, so this year it's expected that more will be seen. I think that this group and its influence deserve notice if the ability to advertise bicycle riding is seen on a broader basis. The creation of lanes can only help to bring this belief more so into the light and allow others to take notice.

Is it possible that Bike to Work Day will be seen more prevalently in areas outside of New Orleans? I think that the possibility still exists but there has to be a demand for it. I think that, nowadays, there is more of a need to get in shape and the importance behind it is at a much higher level than it has ever been before. City bicycle riding can be one of those trends which picks up steam because it stands as an accessible form of exercise people can get into.
