Buy Pepper Spray For Personal Protection

By Dustin Aaron

Pepper Spray is a decent self protection option. Pepper spray can be used to discourage or distract an attacker long enough for you to retreat to protection. If you are not secure carrying a concealed handgun, then you should consider carrying pepper spray for personal protection.

Before you use pepper spray, you should ensure that it is legal in your state or city. The ideal method to do this is to contact your local police department by dialing the non-emergency phone number and asking them about the legalities of having pepper spray for self defense in your state. Many states regulate the size of the pepper spray container, and some states limit the chemicals that make up your self defense spray. A few states make a differentiation between pepper spray that is for use on wild animals, and pepper spray that is for use against human assailants.

After you learn the pepper spray laws and regulations in your state, you should enroll in a self-defense class that teaches you how to use pepper spray for personal protection. A large number of these courses are taught at your local firearm range, or at your local martial arts establishment. Finding these courses is as easy as running an internet search.

When you have graduated a formal training seminar, you must decide what kind of pepper spray you are going to purchase. I'm certain your class instructor will have a viewpoint on what type of pepper spray you should use, and it is probably best to consider that advice.

The basic ingredient in pepper spray is Oleoresin Capsicum, which is oftentimes abbreviated OC. This is the substance that makes peppers hot. Pepper sprays are sold in numerous capsicum quantities, different spray patterns, and different size bottles. You can also find pepper sprays of varying hotness levels. Ensure that the pepper spray you obtain is adequate enough to stop the threat that you are preparing for.

Finally, it is crucial that you train to deploy your pepper spray in an emergency situation. If you are in a perilous area, you should already have it in your hand and at the ready. If you are assaulted, remember that your pepper spray is principally designed to buy you time to break free. Aim for your attacker's face, spray the threat, then run to safety.
